Financially are you nervous?

Just wanted to know if it's normal to feel nervous about seeing how much money needs to be paid?

Yes of course! I've never planned such a big party! Or paid so much for a dress!

Yeah I have crazy anxiety over the whole thing.

I overthink every single day and wish I could've just talked FH into eloping. I know we can afford it but still hard to see all that money go.

I have said so many times that we should have saved all the money and eloped BUT I know that we would have regretted making that decision. Yes it's A LOT of money but we know it will all be worth it. We saved it for this reason so why not?

I don't know if nervous was the right word. I was shocked at how much weddings cost and watching the last minute no-show texts roll in as the final deposits were being paid sucks

Anxiety at all times regarding finances. My venue has a 100 person minimum. So. If I invite too few people, we end up paying for imaginary people ... if we invite too many... our catering is $120 a person... so 10 extra people is $1200!!

Just thinking about it makes my heart pound.

My catering bill makes me want to pass out. I constantly am wishing we had just our parents and siblings and got married already!

Constantly. We just started planning and I've already had a couple breakdowns. And our budget is TINY! But it just seems like so much to spend... the other day I thought we were going to have to scrap it all and go to the courthouse. I think I cried like 10 times that night.

Absolutely! Definitely feel a little sick to my stomach when we pay multiple, large lump sum payments at once.

Just make sure you're sticking to your budget!

@ginabav these are my exact thoughts (about it being a down payment on a house)

Yep. We have the money saved up and we will have everything paid off a few weeks before the wedding. And btw, by contemporary standards we are having a very simple wedding. But we both keep thinking "what a waste to spend all that money on one day. We could have added some more to it and put a down payment on a house".

But we know this is a once in a lifetime thing, and are families are happy, so we can't really complain.

We have a budget...and a plan for when the money is actually expended, which we check the progress on every 2 weeks (a calendared event). Although, we planned the expenses, it is still hard to see the money go. We all work very hard to earn a living. I think it is natural to be nervous.

So nervous! Just completely redesigned my center pieces to cut the cost in half. Waiting on a quote from a second florist because the quote the first florist gave us felt astronomical.

I'm looking forward to after the wedding when all I have to pay is bills and groceries, lol!

I had a minor panic attack and almost called our venue to see if we could rework our contract for one of the smaller rooms so we could have a small ceremony and dinner with our parents. My mom is an accountant and looked over all our contracts and our budget and told us what we need to be saving and that we will be just fine. I feel better now but still a little overwhelmed with how expensive this is.

Nervous feelings doesn't mean you can't afford it or that you're over doing it. I get uncomfortable and anxious about spending money all the time so of course the wedding makes it so much worse.

I know we can afford it and it's exactly what we want. However it's strange to write checks that are larger than I've ever written before. I'm also getting used to my new job which is my first "adult" job so it's a matter of getting used to the fact that I don't make minimum wage at a part time job anymore!
