6 and a half months after the wedding that I drove 5 states to go to, spent 3 nights in a hotel, gave a very generous monetary gift, plus contributed $10 to their dollar dance.

Finally got a thank you note, if you can call it that. A wedding photo with Thank you!!! Photoshopped across it and the words "Love, The Smiths" hand written on the back.

Seriously? No thank you card would have been less insulting. People really can't take the 2 minutes to write a proper thank you card and it makes me nuts!

When one of my cousins got married, my parents gave a gift, and I gave a separate gift. We received one thank you note thanking us for our generous gift. No mention of what the gifts were. Oh, and my then-partner had gone in on the gift with me, and his name was nowhere on the thank you note even though it was on the card that I had attached to the gift. We were still together at that point. And actually planning our own wedding so it was a bit of a slap to him.

We made phone calls on our honeymoon (7 days) to thank relatives who gave us large sums of cash and we had 100% of our TY notes (152 people and around 85 households) out by the end of the month.

Exactly what I was saying @jerseyjen. I don't mind the photo card...i just described it so you all know she was not waiting months to get those cards. If it did come down to photo card i had to wait a long time for, or handwritten stationary card. I'd take the handwritten stationary card that comes in 2-6 weeks. I think taking 6 months to acknowledge a gift and then not even acknowleding it, as was the case here' is deplorable. FH wants to take them off our guest list now.

I agree with the 3 month rule. I think 2 weeks is a little tough. The wedding I attended last weekend went on a 2 week honeymoon. They'd have to be writing Thank You cards on their honeymoon to fit that timeline. 2-3 months is plenty of time, in my opinion.

What is wrong with people!?!! We got a thank you almost a year after a wedding, six months after we received a Christmas card with a wedding photo enclosed. It was mindblowing!! We sent our thank yous out the WEEKEND AFTER THE WEDDING. It's so important to show your gratitude to your guests!!!

I did my best to stay ahead of the thank you notes by writing them as we received gifts. I also had my husband help so the pressure wasn't all on me. We managed to get all of our notes out within about 3 weeks of receiving a gift this way. I was tempted to wait for the photos to do photo cards, but we just got them back. I am glad we didn't wait. We'll use them for holiday cards instead. Our circle of friends were really good about personalized notes as well. Guess we're a classy bunch. lol

Yeah hell no, two weeks is definitely not enough time to write a thank you note. I think getting them out within a month is ideal. Just my opinion.

That's ridiculous. I never received a thank you from 2 weddings I went to last YEAR. I also really like the idea of the picture thank yous, but you have to still write a personal message, it's really not that hard.
