Fiance wants to wear suit for wedding/tux for reception two different colors

Amber, on April 26, 2018 at 5:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
Help Please! I could be over reacting, but I need advice or someone to make me feel better about my issue. My fiance wants to wear a beige suit for either the wedding/reception and then a navy tuxedo for the other. If it was Navy for both tux and auit I would be fine but I feel the being is really going to throw everything off and I really wanted him in Navy the whole time. Our colors are Navy, white and silver. He is a fashion guy and he really wants this and I really don't. Am I worried for nothing? Will it look okay? Has anyone seen this done before?

I don't think this will impact anything so if that's what he wants to do I would let him do it.

I have never seen it done before. It is interesting. Is he having the groomsmen switch as well?

If it was me and that is something my FH really wanted I would let him have it. I would figure out how to make it work. Beige is a neutral colour so it can work with the other colours.

No, I do t believe so. I hope not. He is from another country. So typically in their weddings they do change between the ceremony and reception, even the bride. But I think it would only be for him.

Sure, why not? It's his wedding too.

So do you think even though the guys would be wearing dark gray and girls Navy blue, the beige wouldn't clash?

I wouldn’t want him in Biege. I like grooms in darker colors like gray, navy or black. Biege will blend too much with your dress

Lots of brides change and they don't run it past the groom. He should have final say over his own attire just as you do for yours, as long as it isn't disrespectful.

It's his wedding too, let him wear what he wants.

Hmm honestly I would do the navy tux for the ceremony and the tan suit for the reception but ultimately it’s his choice

i wanted FH in grey, but he really wants a bright blue. So blue it is 😊

Apparently it is Navy Tux for wedding ceremony and pictures, but then for the reception and any pictures there it's a brownish suit jacket and beige pants. It is his wedding too and I want him to be happy. I just had something set in my mind and he left some details out lol. Thanks everyone for all the great advice. Hopefully it will turn out okay !

It is not unusual for men to change for the reception, especially if the ceremony is in the afternoon, when a tuxedo is not really appropriate. Tuxedos are evening formal wear for men. Given my druthers , I would suggest the suit for the afternoon and the tuxedo for the evening reception.

I do however think beige and brown are an odd choice for someone who likes fashion, when the groomsmen will be in grey.

I understand your concern, but I honestly think that the colors will match just fine. It is obviously something he cares about (you said he is into fashion) so I would let him have this. It is his day as well as yours; I would be very upset if FH put stipulations on my dress.

    Good luck! ❤️

I think that's super cool and will be great for photo diversity! Plus, it feels like he really wants to look good for your wedding which is romantic. Yes, yes, yes.

We both changed into different reception outfits...pirates. It was pretty rad.

It's his wedding too, unless he wanted like a lime green leisure suit I'd be inclined to let him go for it. My H was dead set on a tux even though it was too formal for our wedding...he loved it, I loved the way he looked in it, and it was fine. Smiley smile
