Fiance is 6'3" and I am 5'6" - What Size Heel?

PrettyinPink, on July 20, 2017 at 12:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 41

Hey ladies. Sorry I have so many questions. I am in between 5'6" and 5'7" inches. I was planning on wearing 3 1/2 inch heels, but I am afraid I won't be too comfortable in them. If I decided to go with a 2 1/2 inch heel do you think our height difference would look odd? I'm not sure if it'll look better to be closer in height or further away (might look cute even, lol). I know there isn't a right answer and it's preference, just curious what others have done in this situation? Thanks!

My fh is 6'3 and I'm 5'5 and I'll be wearing flats. I think the height different is kinda cute and I don't feel like wearing heels

I don't think an inch is going to make much difference either way in terms of how it looks. I would just go with what is comfortable! It will be a long day on your feet and you want to be able to dance!

I would wear whatever heel you're most comfortable in - even if it's flats. You want to be comfortable on your wedding day!

You and FH are the same height as me and H. The wedges I wore when we got married are about 3 inches. I don't think 2.5 inches would look odd.

Wear what you are comfortable wearing. Better that than falling over in your shoes, spraining an ankle and not being able to enjoy your wedding. Everyone knows you are shorter than your FI. Your photographer will know how to pose you for pics.

I'm 5'5 and FH is 6'3. I picked my 4 inch shoes based on three factors that had nothing to do with the difference in our heights: 1) I already owned the shoes; 2) they are comfortable; and 3) they were the perfect height so I did not have to alter the hem of my wedding dress. I like the difference in our heights and would have been fine with flats too.

I agree with other PP wear whatever. I think husband taller than wife is cute! I would add though that you guys should practice dancing. I watched a couple dance at a wedding with a big height difference and they were really struggling on how to hold each other.

My FH is 6'2" and I'm 5'2" on a tall day. I am wearing Converse. I will be comfy. I *MAY* switch into heels for our first dance but I doubt it.

    I wouldn't worry about it. 1 inch won't make a difference.

There is exactly a foot difference in height between my short self and FH, there is no way any shoe I ever wear will make that not look obvious so I am going with comfy flats for the ceremony and converse for the reception.

I wore 6" platform heels. I was so tall guys! Like 5"10! I was only half a foot shorter than H! I could reach tall shelves!

    It was magical...

@Badger I know what you meant, but I love that you put the marker for feet instead of inches, cause now I get to imagine you on stilts for your wedding day!

ETA: I didn't pick the shoe for height difference reasons. I picked the shoe because they looked good with my tea length dress.

I'd stick with a heel you can walk and dance the night away in Smiley smile

My FH is 6'3 and Im 5'2. I am probably going to wear flats or a kitten heel because I can't walk in heels (never wear them) and want to be comfortable and confident. The difference in height doesn't bother me in real life, don't think it will for the wedding or pictures either.

Literally whatever you want. I am 5' 3", my FH is 6' 5" and I am wearing a one inch kitten heel. No fucks to give.

I'm doing 4.5 inch heels. But I wear heels daily so I'm used to it. There's a 9inch height difference between us also.

If you have time to practice wearing the shoes, you can get comfortable wearing high heels.

ETA: its easier for FH to kiss me when I wear heels.

I was thinking about every single detail a year away from my wedding too. The height doesn't matter. What do you normally wear? I have friends who are 5'2" and 6'5". They have a huge difference and that's just who they are as a couple. I don't think there's too much of a difference in your heights TBH.

My FH is 6'6 and I'm 5'6 and I'm planning to be barefoot on the beach. Wear whatever is comfortable!
