I know this term means different things to different people. Which is awesome! My Dad is the officiant (more free-spirited ceremony) and we all know I won’t be “given away”, etc. but I’m personally still looking forward to wearing white and taking my partner’s last name. I’m curious about...

I’m curious about traditional wedding aspects you’re maybe planning on switching up/have switched up to better represent your views on partnership/this union?

Skipping the garter toss because it's awwwkward, and most likely not doing the bouquet toss. I'm also not wearing a veil, and want to find a off white wedding dress! Flower girl isn't carrying a basket or throwing petals either! Our friend is also getting ordained online so he can marry us!

I don’t even need to know the past behind the garter toss to skip it. It’s always been cringy without knowing why it’s done!

We are having a non-religious ceremony. We are skipping bouquet toss and garter toss. I will also walk down the aisle myself and will not have anyone “give me away”. I am not walking in to “Here comes the bride”, it will be a different song. As far as names go, I actually would be happy to take my FH’s name however I am a single mom and have been for all 9 years of my daughter’s life so her and I having the same last name is very important to us (she has my maiden name/last name). I am still deciding if I want to keep my name and just add FH’s or not. I haven’t fully decided.
