Females only please... bikini or tankini for honeymoon?

Amanda, on June 25, 2015 at 3:43 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 37

We leave for our honeymoon Saturday so I've been shopping for attire. I used to be over 170 pounds and have struggled with dieting due to my father passing away, stress, having a kid, etc. I've lost 30 pounds but I'm still not sure if I should get in a bikini or take tankini's to cover up. I've attached some pictures (which was really difficult to do) so please no judging and just honest opinions. We are going to Jamaica. Thank you!

First of all... the only men on here are gay!

And second...only you can decide what you are comfortable in. We can tell you what we think you look good in but you need to be comfortable too.

You look pretty darn great, but if you are the slightest bit uncomfortable in a bikini then go for the tankini. I love those, especially ones with a halter neck...so flattering. Smiley smile

Maybe try a bikini with a higher waist. It may be more flattering.

You can wear a bikini but with bigger bottoms than you are wearing here. Either wear a regular size bikini bottom (not string) or some cute boy shorts. You look fine and congratulations on your weight loss! I love Venus bathing suits. They fit good and have many different bottom styles.

I have the same issue as you. Thankfully.... High waisted bikini bottoms are back and they do wonders! If you're comfortable rocking a bikini than go for it! I hate one pieces. I look like a little boy.

    Ask yourself this

    1. Do I like this swim suit?

    2. Does it keep my goodies protected (sand can be a cruel mistress)

    3. Can I do everything I want to in this suit?

    4. Do I feel amazing?

If you feel amazing, feel sexy, feel comfortable, then wear it and wear it proudly. You should not feel shamed into wearing something you don't want to because of someone else's definition of a bikini body. A bikini body = bikini + body. simple as that.

Love your body, every inch of it, and if you want to wear that HELLA CUTE bikini girl! please do so!

There is nothing wrong with the way you look in that bikini. but I also know that if you are not 100% convinced then you are going to be super uncomfortable the whole time, and as others have said, go with what is most comfortable to you so that you can enjoy yourself. (Maybe consider bringing both, so that you have a back up if you are not happy in the bikini)

Go with whatever you feel more comfortable in. You could always bring both tops in case you feel uncomfortable once you hit the beach in the bikini. But you will be there with your loving hubby and the drinks flowing, so I would guess that feeling insecure won't be the first thing on your mind.

Quoting... because this be the truth:

I'm over 200 pounds and will be wearing a bikini. I feel like if people think I'm gross, that's their problem to deal with, not my problem to prevent.

Tankinis are super annoying in the ocean because the waves make them roll up.

It's a little weird getting used to, but here's mine. I feel way better in it than a typical bikini. Plus it hides my giant transplant scar

I think you look good in that bikini, but as others have said go with what makes you comfortable. I know if I *think* I look fat in something or if I think its too revealing, then I'm self-conscious all day.

Congrats on your hard work! I love the high waisted bikini bottom trend that's going on. I think it's really slimming and if you're even the slightest bit self-conscious about your lower belly they wipe that all away. Whatever you feel confident and beautiful in, that's ultimately what you should go with.

You'll never see the people again at the resorts! There were many MANY people wearing swimsuits that I myself never would wear and frankly thought that if they picked something else it would be much more flattering. If you try the high waisted bottoms like others said you might feel more comfortable? I'm plus size and even have some of them. They only show like 2 inches between the waist of the bottoms and the top, but I guess it's technically a 'bikini'. You just need to feel comfortable! There will always be very fit skinny girls running around in their little yellow polka dot bikini's, so if you see those will you feel uncomfortable if you are also in a bikini?? Just do what feels right.

Putting "females only" in the title will only entice the men to look; however, any man on here is probably not interested in women so I wouldn't worry about that. Also remember you are on the internet, you cannot dictate who looks at your pictures. What does the tankini look like? Do you have a picture of you in one of those? I personally am not a fan of string bikinis on us curvy women. I would suggest looking at bikini bottoms that are bigger with thicker straps. They don't move around when we move around as much. I would worry about mine coming undone in the water if I wore the tie strings.

You have a lovely shape! I think you should wear what makes you comfortable. That said, a tankini isn't necessarily going to be more flattering. I think the most flattering look for you would be to get a retro style 2 piece that has a higher waist. This will pull in your tummy and will bring the focus up. Something like the posted.
