Is it a general thing that we pay for vendor meals as well, or is this out of the ordinary?

Yes, most vendor contracts for vendors at the wedding all day require a vendor meal. We are feeding 6 vendors.

I don’t think any of my vendors require it, but I couldn’t imagine not feeding them! They will be working so hard to make our day special and should be fed well. We are doing inexpensive catering so that makes it easier. If we had plates that were upwards of $100 I’d definitely ask for vendor pricing but they would be fed regardless. I offered most of our vendors to stay over (we have tons of lodging available) and enjoy the party as well. Our vendor list is mostly acquaintances who are friends with common friends etc so that helps.

It is in some of my vendor's contract and the ones that it is not I still added an extra plate or two for them as well. Most of your vendors are with you the majority of the day they would be very hungry/hangry by the end of it!

The only vendor that actually had a "meal break" in her contract was my photographer. But I would think that she'd just grab a plate and eat off to the side, I included her in my head count. It's a little odd to have "vendor food" pricing... maybe only b/c I haven't run across that.

It is common to feed vendors. Personally, I would feel bad for my vendors if they were there for so many hours and unable to eat anything...but that is just me. I am lucky we are doing a buffet, so we don't have to plan any special vendor meals..they will just eat what we are all eating, and I am okay with that.

It’s in my contracts that we are required to feed them a vendor meal.

I totally never realized how helpless most of these vendors are.... I mean to think that a hired worker would bring their own lunch and feed themselves like an adult is considered impolite is beyond me....The only people I think that should get fed are the DJ and or the band. Those are the only people that can’t really bring anything for themselves that will be working the HARDEST and yes they get the same meal as me, but just them. Everyone else is just pathetic. Write it in your contract if you need to if it’s a situation where you can’t bring your own food.

For me i found it necessary to feed them. I mean most of them are there ALL day - just as long as you. You wouldn't want to go 6+ hours working without a meal would you? it is very easy to overlook something as its def not on the top of the list. if you can, i would suggest doing so. our venue had them priced just a bit more than childrens meal. it shouldn't cost the same as a regular guest.

Your photographer needs to eat and won't be able to leave to get a bite since you'll miss out on pictures. Caterers are used to providing vendor meals discounted that shouldn't break the bank.
