I am sure this has been asked before, but do you feed your DJ at the reception?

@Anne S.: Carole's right - anyone working at your wedding for that length of time is entitled to a meal break (time varies by state, but in most places it's a 30 minute break). Unless the contract stipulates, you aren't REQUIRED to provide a meal, but you must allow the vendor time to have a break. Vendors are frequently accustomed to having a vendor meal provided for them, but if that's not happening, you should discuss it with them beforehand so they can bring their own food or be prepared to go out and find some food. All that said...providing a simple meal goes a long way with a tired vendor who is working hard to make your wedding day great, and it's not really that much to ask.

Our venue offers reduced prices for vendor meals, while I believe if they are there for the whole time you should offer them something, I'm sorry but unless your my friend/family I am not paying full price for you to have a fancy dinner. I go to work for 12hr shifts and am lucky to get 20min to sit and eat something, and I have to bring my own food x). We are paying for our wedding by ourselves and our budget is stretched to the max already. Lucky for us we only have the DJ (who is our friend) and the videographer who is also our friend so they'll be eating what we are, but if I didnt know them I would not stress about what they were going to be eating.

Then feed the vendors, I don't see why you are asking the ppl on WW if you should Feed them if you already want to Feed them.

Wtf anne? she's asking people on WW because that's the point of the forum - to get the opinions of others.

don't start picking on someone for a having a valid question.

Um Anne, I wasn't sure that is why I asked. I haven't planned many weddings (just this one actually) and I have only been to two weddings in recent memory, so I am not an expert.

If it is so much trouble to answer a question, then do click on the post and move along, jeesh wth is wrong with people. So now we are not allowed to ask questions on a wedding forum about weddings, ok then.

Thanks to everyone else who answered. Smiley smile

Read your contract with the vendor. Some expect it. Some don't. When I was a dj I never ate at the reception. I felt I did a better job on an empty stomach. But others will feel differently.

It's still nice to offer. Ask your dj beforehand. If they want food, make a place for them.

The important thing is to feed your vendors (if you do) in the SAME ROOM, unless you have a coordinator who can communicate with them. You want to know that they'll be able to see and hear what's going on. That's especially true of the photographer/videographer.

I just meet with DJs today and asked if they required a plate. It is not that I don't want to feed them I just didn't want to waste a plate and wanted to make sure they were included in my headcount. Both DJs said not to waste my money feeding them. They eat before the event.
