Feedback on my Homemade Dress?

So I'm making my dress. Please ignore the top (because i am not there yet) but what are your opinions on the midsection and the skirt. Don't be afraid to be honest, none of you can be as harsh as my aunts. Front Sides Back. front close up back close up back close up

I see what people are saying about the bottom and needing to be more poofy...it looks like it wants to be a fit and flare but there’s not enough “flare” if that makes sense! If that’s not the look you’re going for, I think it’s because of where the two textures meet

Yeah, these are the two things I was going to say, but hadn't figured out how to word it yet!

But overall, I love the dress (so far) and think it's going to be absolutely gorgeous!!! Love the beading, and although you said the top isn't done yet, I can see it's going to be a halter--so pretty!!

I really admire your courage, for making your own dress!! And your talent with sewing!!

Adjust the beading so it falls around your hips and moves with them.-- I'm not sure about the beading in the front and the "V" either. Continue with the lace on the top half of the dress and include delicate beading that cascades to your hips-- remove the ropes of beads from the front. Flare the skirt out more (like an A-line if you don't want it too full) to give it more movement and look less like a bubble. A low back or backless would look really good with beading, too, and the beads will reflect the light whenever you move!

This is very pretty and unique. I’m not sure how tall you are but the proportion seems off a bit. Can you bring the lace up a little higher on the hips?

I think it needs a third tier and is what everyone thinks is missing. their tier above the other two will give dimension and flare.
I also think having the lace under the beading will provide the transition that's smoother and smooth out the V shape. Although I think the V line is very sexy and love it.
The back is absolutely stunning. I don't think it needs anything but the finishes.
I know the top isn't done but some beading details is all I think it will need.
Honestly it is gorgeous, you are so talented. I would love to see it finished once you get married. It's so pretty

Are you able to try the dress on to see how it looks on your body?

I agree with this I really don't like the bottom BUT its your dress so if thats what you love then its all you just not my favorite. I do like the intricate details. I am an avid sewer and actually have a business making custom clothing but I would NEVER attempt to make my wedding dress so I give you MAJOR kudos! You are doing a great job! I would be curious what your inspiration is or if you were just winging it. I do think the beading should move up a little as well maybe on the mid section more and under the breast rather than at your thighs and lady parts.

I like the bottom, my only thought would be to expand the bottom of the dress more... i think it would look better with a longer mermaid bottom.

I think the back is lovely. I am concerned about the bottom, I feel like I would have to see it on you. I feel like it could possibly lay strangely on the body. Also I feel like the beads on the midsection draw lots of attention to that part of the body, so as long as you're ok with that. It might also be that the top isn't done yet so the finished product might balance it out! Very impressive work btw!! I wish I was skilled enough to make my own dress!!

One thing is for sure----girl, you've got your work cut out for you! I think it's really neat to see those who know how to sew and are ambitious enough to take on such a huge endeavor as making their own wedding gowns---woo hoo!! What you've done already is fantastic, but I do have to agree with Jessica. The mid-section where the pearls all come together and the lace sort of hangs in an awkward way was the first thing that stood out when I looked at your gown. I'm wondering if the lace is not "flowy" enough for the look you're going for?? I do like the way you're using all the pearls, though. Someone mentioned about the pearls looking like they're coming from the unmentionable section of your mannequin, but I believe those pearls are just pinned with large headed pins, from what I can tell, and that's why it looks a little weird? What type of material are you using for the base (not the bottom lace part) of your dress? Well, now that we're on the subject, what type of lace are you using too? Well, keep up the good work---'cause you're doing great, and may God bless the work of your hands and your ❤️!

WOW Valerie-- You nailed it. It is stunning!

You totally fixed the "V" issue--well done. The first way made my jaw drop, haha, but this is now a perfect mix of edgy-sexy and classy-elegance.

I also like how you changed the knee area. I was going to mention on the first way you had it that with the bottom being of a smaller circumference than the hip--it made the hip appear larger. This second way fixes that issue too, but once it's on you may want to make sure it flares enough at the very bottom.

It was fun to see what yo are creating as I can see you're a gal who trusts her gut and isn't afraid to follow it--that will serve you well all your life dear.

Oh-the very top--Love that too--your hair is going to look gorgeous flowing around your shoulders just like the rest of the dress flows. Love it!

Yeah I agree with previous posts about the location of the beading right on your V.

It might look different on you but on the stand it's a little awkward
