Favourite Tea Sandwiches?

My fiance and I are throwing a high tea for our reception, with little tea sandwiches and sweets. If you were a guest, what tea sandwiches would you like to see there? We're still working out the menu. There will also be scones and clotted cream and jam

@Susan I just have to give you props. This sounds super fun! I have never been to a tea time and I kinda want to now. It may not be for everyone, but not everyone is invited to your wedding. You know what your guests will enjoy and I think 6:30 is plenty early to get dinner elsewhere if you are still hungry and/or unsatisfied with the offerings. There doesn't seem to be any improper hosting here, so I'm not sure why this has caused such a stir.

I'm sorry but at a reception of any kind after a wedding especially with up to 2 hours travel time Home at the end, dinner is expected. I don't know anyone that would happy with sandwiches. You need to feed your guests dinner. I don't know when or how this became acceptable for a wedding reception.

@Mrsbigtexas- thanks Smiley smile I appreciate that. LOL honestly, I think some people use this forum as a substitute for blowing off steam. I mean, I enjoy a good troll once in a while, but I think several of the posters here have me beat! Smiley smile

Seriously though, my wedding vendors actually got excited because we aren't doing the same old same old. The owner of the bakery we hired is planning to do delivery and setup herself even though we're out of zone because she wants to attend. Our photographer cut us a price break because we're doing something unique. Lord save us from another rustic dinner and dance LOL. I am sure that is personal and lovely for some people... but seems like every other wedding is lace trimmed burlap Smiley tongue Hey if it floats your boat go for it... but variety is the spice of life!

The world isn't a black and white place. Which I am very thankful for, because it would be boring.

@Forestwed, I'll file your opinion where I stuck everyone else's. Hint: It's round and has a nice black bag in it.

My only point is that high tea and sandwiches are appropriate for a bridal shower not a wedding reception. A meal should be served at a reception especially at that time of day and a lot of people have up to a two hour drive home afterward.

Not sure why people are STILL telling OP "a meal should be served at dinner time"... She's clearly going to serve whatever the hell she wants to serve. 8 pages of arguments is insane.

I hate tea sandwiches. I'd probably eat beforehand and be hitting up the local fast food place for some fries on the way home. Ain't no little sammie gonna soak up the alcohol I'd need to get through that.

@Celia, if I had a cookie for every time I saw someone in my local group post they need those wooden circle "cookies" for decor or centrepieces, I'd own a bakery.

Hmm. Owning a bakery would be nice. I could bake the scones for my wedding Smiley winking

@Taylor, I think those are gross but I swear to you that every third person has asked if we would please have them. So, we're having them. I don't get this cucumbers on bread thing- I don't even like them on subs. Just fine on the side, though.

We're even serving them on white bread LOL.

Isn't that a kids' book? If you give a mouse a cookie?
