Favors

Lynn, on March 12, 2019 at 12:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 30
My mom & stepmom think I should completely X out favors. They think it’s an unnecessary expense but I kind of feel bad as that was our way of saying thank you for coming. We’re planning on giving each guest a late night snack.

The reception is your thank you to your guests for attending the ceremony. Favors are a great bonus, especially edible ones, but they aren't a necessity.

If you want to give them and it's in your budget it's a nice thing to do, but it's not a necessity. I'm still trying to decide if i'm going to do that or not, or spend the funds on something else. I want to give them though.

Exactly this. To me favors should be at the bottom of budget priorities. You’ve just wined and dined your guests there’s no need to give a gift on top of that.

That said, if you have your heart set on favors a late night snack is 100% the way to go Smiley smile

We are pretty much cutting out favors. We are having a photo booth though, I guess we could consider that a favor. We are also trying to keep our expenses low. But snacks sound good!

If you’re paying for everyone’s meal then I personally would X out favors.

We are completely not doing favors. Its a waste of money. we have been to tons of weddings with all the favors sitting on the tables at the end of the night and nobody took them home.
I see it as the reception/food/drinks is you saying thank you for coming

I think we are going to forgo favors in order to free up some of the budget for our dream photographer. She was a little more than my fiancé wanted to pay, so not doing favors seems like a good trade off

Favors are unnecessary. If you do want to have them, fan favorites are edible and wine stoppers/bottle openers. Anything else tends to have way too many left untouched.

You can also see if you can add your favors in a way that does double-duty. I decided to do favors that double as escort cards. My favors are skeleton key bottle openers, and the tag will have the label similar to the one below:

    Favors 1

    Favors 2

If you want to and it's in budget, you totally should. We are doing favors & a midnight snack, but obviously neither was necessary. We just wanted to do it.

Favors to me are a waste of money. Your reception is a thank you to your guests.

They are right, it is unnecessary. Also, your thank you for coming is the reception itself. We are doing favors, but only because we plan to serve bottled beer in the summer, so we are providing bottle coozies for our guests. Otherwise, I wouldn't do them.

I am glad to be on this post. I was thinking of doing a candy buffet table as our favor. The price I receive wasn't to bad however, i kept thinking would it be worth it. I honestly had one regret so far and that was the STD'S so i doubt i will get favors.

I think you wining and dining your guests is ALSO a good way of thanking them for coming. I have completely nixed favors....if we have a budget available for a photo booth, that will be it. Otherwise its open bar, food and dancing. Thank you cards will be sent out.

We aren't doing any actual favors but will be giving kisses from the Bride and Groom similar to this setup.

If it is edible in the moment sure but if it is something like a box of chocolate to take home, a figurine, bubbles etc, ditch it. I agree that the reception is a party that you are inviting them to and thanking them for coming. When people attend your birthday they are there to celebrate you, not you to celebrate them for coming to celebrate you... if that makes any sense.

No one will notice them if you don't have favors but if you do its better to have edibles.

We ( by that I mean 'me', lol) are considering the photo booth. So much fun! I've still got a strip of photos from my cousin's wedding on my fridge from like 7 years ago. We are also leaning toward the dessert buffet (cake pops, cake balls, bars, etc.) and ordering extra goodies. Then, possibly getting those little treat bags so people can take one for the road too! Extra bonus!

For favors we chose to opt out of really purchasing favors we will be having a full dessert bar with small good bags or some sort of box for people to fill and take home with them! Me and FH loves sweets so that is going to be our Sweet Thank You❤️

I always enjoy the photo booths when I go to weddings! And that dessert buffet sounds good.
