Favorite ceremony readings about love

Michelle, on February 16, 2022 at 2:15 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 2 6
What are your favorite passages? Is it a short poem, something from a movie or tv show or a paragraph from a random book that stands out to you? Which if any will be included in your ceremony?

We're still narrowing down which two readings we want to include in our ceremony, though at the moment, we have a couple short poems in mind that we're thinking we'll choose.

We are including the E. E. Cummings poem "i carry your heart with me" in our ceremony. I pulled together 3 poems for my FH to choose from and this is the one he picked. I LOVE poetry so it was just a matter of finding the one that spoke to both of us.

We did two readings that I found online but they really spoke to me:

This is my favorite. We included it in our vows.

We didn't have any readings at our wedding because our officiant wrote us a love story, but seventeen years ago this May, I read the passage below by George Eliot at my sister's wedding (that sister would later be my maid of honor):

"Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts or measure words, but pouring them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away."
