Father's Day? What Do i Do?

Cathy, on June 15, 2020 at 6:49 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 6

So, I've been married since October; my husband has two college-age sons from his previous marriage--we will not having children together for biological reasons.

My question: should I give him a father's day card, even though I have no relation to his children, and they don't live with us? As his gift, I am letting him use my boat for the weekend so that he can have a "guys weekend" with his sons, but I really don't know what to do in this case.

I think that would be so sweet if you got him or made him a father's day card!

Do his sons usually get in touch to do something with him?

I would think a card is still a nice gesture. He is still a father even if it isn't to your biological kids, so it seems like something to celebrate.

I know I’m the odd one out so far, but I would say no to the card. His kids are old enough now that they should be giving him cards and making him feel special for Father’s Day. I think it was already a really nice gesture to offer up your boat so they can spend time together, and a verbal “Happy Father’s Day” would be nice, but in my opinion I think the card would be taking it a step too far.
