Father/daughter dances

Jackie, on August 9, 2019 at 9:57 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 2
Help !! My fiance and I had originally planned to not do father/daughter, mother/son dances. Now he just found out his mother really wants too and that's she will be heartbroken if they didnt. I have a feeling my dad wants to do a father/daughter one too. I'm not very close with my dad..and I think I would feel awkward. Any advice ? ALSO I have a dad and step dad.. I'm so scared to tell my dad that my step father is also walking me down the aisle...I feel he will be very upset .Any other ways to do this?

I would still do the dances, even though your not that close it will mean so much to them to be a part of your big day. I also have a stepfather and I’m planning on having both of them walking me down the aisle and 2 separate father/daughter dances.

    Hey there Jackie!

    Welcome to the WeddingWire community.

I would encourage open and honest communication. Sit down with your dad and explain to him that you're step-father will be walking you down the aisle, however, you would love if you could both to a father-daughter dance at your reception.

For the song, there are so many great choices out there that aren't super emotional which may make you feel less awkward. I always recommend “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. Perhaps when speaking with your dad, you could ask him for a song suggestion. This may make him feel involved and help you feel less awkward.

Would you like to do a dance with your stepfather also?
