My father, my brother (who is a bridesman), my fiance, and the groomsmen are all going to be wearing tuxes for the wedding. My future FIL does not want to wear a tux or a suit. He doesn't even like to wear dress pants. My fiance said he has to discuss with his father what he is willing to wear. What does the father of the groom normally wear? My personal opinion is that he will look weird in family photos being the only guy not wearing a tux, but I know we can't force him to wear a tux.

    I have always seen the father of the groom wear a tux... what does he want to wear then? Jeans? For crying out loud, it's only a few hours... geez

    And if he doesn't want to wear even dress pants, what shirt is he going to wear????

    My guess would be jeans and a t-shirt because he doesn't like suits, tuxes, or polos.

    For my dad, should he wear a vest with the tux? If so, do the vest and tie need to be the same color?

    My future fil has already told usbhebisngoing to wear jeans and a tshirt. I shrugged and said ok. If it's q choice between him either wearing this or not showing up, he can wear what he wants. If he doesn't come, his mom won't come so the argument wasn't worth it to me.

    Sounds like the man is a selfish and self-centered jerk. He needs to be told he is acting like a 5-year old. It is ONE DAY!! (actually, not even...maybe 8-10 hours!) that means a lot to his son. If he doesn't want to participate, then don't force him. Someday, he will regret not being there.
