Hi, looking for a little advise. My daughter is getting married and the groom is planning on wearing a Tux. His groomsmen are wearing suits with matching colored ties to the Bridesmaids dresses. I said, I too wanted to wear a Tux as I'm giving my daughter away. The groom now says, that he'll wear a suit should I decide to wear a Tux. I always pictured myself in a Tux one day walking down the isle with my daughter. I know It's my daughters day, their day really. My question, how traditional is the FOB's and Tuxes. It seems things are quite different from our wedding 30 years ago. I'm just wondering what the over all consensus is on this subject and of the FOB's position overall. Thanks in advance for any offered opinions.

Maybe talk to your daughter and see what happened? Explain yourself and see why the groom switched now.. it is their day, but you are playing a huge role in it. I want my step-dad to be in a tux

The father of the bride should stand out! As should the groom. My brother wore a tux at his wedding, as did his father-in-law. All his groomsmen wore suits. For my wedding, my dad and my future husband will both be wearing blue suits while the groomsmen will be wearing gray. I would ask your daughter what she prefers, but I think it is typical for the father of the bride to be dressed up a little bit more than the groomsmen.

My Dad passed away ten years ago, luckily my grandfather is able to travel to walk me down the aisle. He's an old mountain man from TN and he decided to wear overalls. I'm just so happy that he can come that I honestly don't care.

If you want to wear a tux do it. I would suggest though not to wear a cumberbund and bow tie instead wear a vest and tie in a wedding color.

If the groom is wearing a suit, you should not be wearing a tux. Your level of formality should not be higher than his.

If he is wearing a tux but wants you to wear a suit, you should respect that. Personally, I think most rental tuxes look awful, so if that was your plan, you would be far better off getting a custom made suit (made to measure or bespoke) in a formal fabric which will look FAR better anyway.

We told our parents they could wear whatever they wanted, their our parents! However, my FH is wearing a suit and my dad will be as well. I don't understand people telling their parents what to wear but that's just me.

I would ask your daughter. When my dad gave me away for my first wedding (wish he were here for the second), I told him to wear what he was comfortable in. He wore a nice suit and looked great, the groom didn't even wear a jacket (we were married in a park), so dad was better dressed but it didn't matter to us, we were just happy he was there.

Groom, groomsmen, Dads of both B and Groom should all be in tuxes. No brainer. Mix and match men with all this mismatched BM dresses looks like a crazy quilt. It gives the impression nobody took the time to get "spiffed" up for the event. Everybody just showed up in what they grabbed out of the closet.

I think you should wear what you want Brian but do not outstage the groom at the same time. I think a simple black tux or a well fitted black suit would be just fine

Hi everyone, thank you all for your comments, it means a lot! I have had a conversation with my daughter regarding a tux. I just found out the groom's tux is a plain jane no frills tux that he's apparently had for 6 plus years. (Penny wise!!, you know the saying) Quite honestly, if I wear a tux now, I will look completely out of place. The tux's I was looking at are classy, with a few details setting them apart from a typical suit. I am going to step aside on this one. My oldest daughter is also getting married in Sept of this year and everyone is dressing in tux's. So, I'll wear one then. Smiley smile Happy weddings to all!

All of my party will be wearing the same tux, but different ties. We got our tuxes from men's warehouse, so they'll have a group created so they can just go and get measured. Here's our breakdown:

Groom: gray tux, same color tie as bridesmaids

Groomsmen: not having them wear the jacket, rolled up sleeves on button up, a bow tie the same color as the bridesmaid dress.

    Ushers: same as groomsmen

My dad: same tux a groom, color of the bridesmaid dress tie, but it also has gray stripes. His dad will also be wearing this tie.

Hope this helps, and congrats on the wedding!
