Father-Daughter Song

My father and I are dancing to Father and Daughter by Paul Simon. It would definitely help to know your style of music interests. I picked the Paul Simon song because it resonated with me and my father and fit the style of music I love.

The Beatles have a few good non-specific songs that are nice. If you're really close to your father, My Hero by The Foo Fighters is a good one.

Ugh this was so hard for me. Everything is so mushy, over the top, and inappropriate IMO. I was thinking about using My Hero, but I feel like it's hard to dance to. I think we will use Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, but I have to decide in like the next 24 hours.

I picked Only one by James Taylor as a surprise for my dad. He took me to a bunch of his concerts so while the lyrics actually do work for a father daughter dance, it was less a sappy wedding song and more something special to both of us. It isn't really slow awkward sway tempo either which was nice!!!

We just decided on "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel. It's always been a favorite of mine. My dad and I don't have a super close relationship and we butt heads sometimes, but deep down there's a lot of love there for each other and we've grown to accept the other, so it seemed like a good fit. It's definitely hard to find something if you're not looking for a super mushy song.

Following this. I'm totally stumped and I have to let the band know by next week.

My dad passed away last year. I was originally planning on dancing with him to "Changes" by Kelly & Ozzy Osbourne. Now I'm doing a Sister/Sister dance in his memory. We're dancing to "Dance With My Father Again" by Luther Vandross.

She chose a song that had a personal meaning for her and her dad. That way the father daughter dance is more about the memories you two have shared, instead of finding the right song from the list.

Why don't you ask your dad for suggestions? He might already have a song in mind. Good luck!

We'll be using Daughter by Loudon Wainwright. It's not overly slow or sentimental, and fits our relationship perfectly.
