Father Daughter Dance Song

Andrea, on November 28, 2012 at 10:22 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

OMG! I am bawling my eyes out right now. I just spent a good hour trying to find the perfect song for father/daughter. They are all so sad! I think I may have found one but not sure. You Can Let Go- by Crystal Shawanda. Only I think we would fade the song out before she starts talking about her dad dying lol. F&D dance songs? And did you cry as hard as I am?!

I loved Stealing Cinderella.. but there is also another that is one of my favorite's called Butterfly Kisses by Faith Hill. I want to dance with that with my biological Dad. However.. there is a song by Brad Paisley called He Didn't Have to Be, I think.. and I want to dance with that with my Step Dad because it somes up our relationship perfectly.. the only thing I DON'T like about it, is in the song it says he hopes he is a Dad just like "his" dad was...

My dad picked My Little Girl-Tim Mcgraw, and everytime I hear it on my ipod or on the radio I tear up, I cant imagine at my wedding how I'll be!

My fiancée picked "I Just Called to Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder. Considering how much they talk, it's quite apropos.

My dad picked "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley. Marleys his favorite and daddy's always told me not to worry about a thing cause everything will be alright. Plus, our theme is "love birds" so he thought it was fitting in all aspects.

Side note - FH wants to dance the Hokey Pokey with his mom lol

I'm a huge Taylor swift fan so me and my dad danced to 'the best day'. Not your typical father daughter dance but it worke perfect.

I cry my eyes out too. I find it 10x worse now that I am actually planning my wedding. Everytime "I loved her first" or "My little girl" come on the radio I ball. Ever since I was little my dad and I always danced to "Butterfly Kisses" so that is probably what it will end up being. My dad now loves the "My little girl" song so he said we might have to do two LOL.

Ok good! I'm not the only one. I was sitting there asking myself why I was crying so hard. I never cry! I was going to go with all of those, but I wanted something that was a little more personal to us. We have a bit of a off kilter relationship.

My dad and I don't have the best relationship but I still cried listening to all the Father daughter dance songs.

We're doing "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw.

Its very appropriate because i'm the youngest of 5 girls so i'll always be the "baby"

I picked "Daddy" by Beyonce'. We're both fans and love the song.

I cry like a little girl child EVERY time I hear that song, I'm sure my wedding day will be no exception :/

There's another "My Little Girl" written especially for the father daughter dance at www.weddingmusiccentral.com. It was written before the Tim McGraw song. Some of these songs mentiioned weren't written for that dance and that's why they're so sad. It should be a more celebratory moment. You should also check out "Angel in My Arms" and "You're My Hero" which is a tribute to a dad on that site.

All I need to hear is the first 2-3 notes of "I loved her first" and I'm already in tears!

I'm very much a daddy's girl and this song is PERFECT for our F/D dance. I know I'm going to cry like a baby on wedding day listening to this song!!
