My dad wants me to pick the song, as he’s not very musical. So I wanted to pick something that would be more thanking him then singing about me being his daughter.

    If you like it, then it's appropriate.

    My dad and I danced to a song from Dirty Dancing, because that was 'our' movie, when I was a kid. (Took me a while to figure out what he was trying to say with the movie, but I got there eventually!)

    Honestly, your DJ can help edit most songs so that they are a good length, but also danceable.
