Fat ring finger

Nadine, on July 7, 2013 at 4:45 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 28

So I am fat. Heyyyy I like food ha. Anywho working on that fat thing now. Buuuuttt because of it we didnt get a real ring yet. We are going to get one once I feel I have lost enough weight. But heres a question. what if i dont lose the weight quick enough? what if my finger doesnt shrink. I have been much smaller before but still wore a size 10 ring. Skinny but yet with fat fingers ha. I read on multiple forums that if you have large fingers then you HAVE to get at least a 1ct or 1.5ct or your ring will just look stupid because your fingers are to big. Well we cant afford that. I was thinking at the very most just under 1/2 carat. Prolly more towards 1/4. Can any of you relate? Or show me your smaller rings? I really want an idea of how the 1/4 or 1/3 diamonds look.

I can relate here, even at my thinnest my hands are quite short and dumpy - obviously a chef's hands rather than a pianist.

It might be worth looking into designs outside of the classic engagement ring. Other precious stones, diamond and stone sets with perhaps a wider band or one with a gentle taper.

Ones which have a bit of height in the setting help too - really pulls the focus to the ring.

Dual band settings, or those with a large precious stone but smaller diamonds are a particularly pretty but cheap option. Perhaps your birth stone, or the one which matches the time you got engaged? Maybe even just a precious stone in your favourite colour.

If it helps, mine is below.

From tip of index to heel of palm, is 6 1/4 inches. Ring finger is 2 1/2 inches long with a size 9.5/10 ring. Looks balanced and if anything the slightly oval

Good luck with finding your ring

It depends on the person to loose weight there. I always loose weight in my fingers first-

I have fat fingers too; My ring size is 8 1/2, but I told my fiancé to get me a size 9, in case my hands swell up or something like that, so he did. Smiley smile I am glad he did too, because my ring is loose enough on my ring to where I can swirl it around without it getting stuck, and I can easily take it off. Here is a picture of my ring. It is 1.75 ct.

My girlfriend is a size 11 and her rings is under a CT and it doesn't look strange at all.

I think it all depends on how you wear the ring! (such as with confidence like betch look at my ring!!!!) Smiley smile

but the ladies here have beautiful rings!

Sweetie, I wear a size 10.5, and my engagement ring is .25 CTW. My wedding ring is going to be another .5 CTW, and I don't think my ring looks odd at all.

I wear a wedding band right now. I don't have a stone in my ring whatsoever. I wear a size 10. Going to get an actual ring set here shortly. I found that round stones look better. I am getting what I like. Idc what others think. If it looks good on my hand to me, what does it matter what others think? Get what you like.

My ring is a quarter carat, I think. blue and white diamonds. (top one in the pic), my wedding band (bottom one) is something like 1/3 carat total.. I'm a size 7 though, so little fingers.. also, not sure how you feel about this, but ESPECIALLY if you think your ring size will change, there are some great options with CZs that look very similar to diamonds and are much cheaper. You could always do a set with those for now and upgrade to diamonds (and a smaller size if necessary) later. There are a bunch on Overstock, Amazon, etc if you're interested.

Also, if you are looking to save, an option might also be to look at alternative metals. I don't know what color you were going to go with, but I wanted white gold or silver. We went with an alternative metal and it cost about 1/3 of what it would have cost in white gold

I definitely understand ... except I have skinny long fingers. My fingers swell when I'm hot and shrinks in the cold. My ring was originally a tight fitting size 6 - after being sized 2 times its now a very loose fitting 5 << I just wear a ring guard to keep from having to keep getting it sized due to weight loss in fingers I guess ... Two things

    1. When you get a ring with more then one diamond its cheaper

    2. More diamonds take away from the size of your finger

    Just my opinion

Here is mine. I wear about a 10.5 and my diamond is 1/2 of a carat. I think the halo style is great on my finger! They make plenty without the extra inlaid diamonds or set with a different inexpensive stone around the edge.

Have you considered not getting a diamond ring? You could do a larger semi-precious stone...Consider your birthstone, or his birthstone, or the stone that coordinates with your wedding date. A wedding ring doesn't HAVE to be diamond.

I loved the Aquamarine stones as well as Morganite.

If you just happen to have a favorite color, you could do a coordinating stone.

Also, consider sterling instead of gold...OR 10k instead of 14k.

    Just some ideas....

My birthstone is Aquamarine Smiley smile His is a diamond ha.

I am shopping around. I want to lose weight before I get my ring because I dont want to pay like $100 extra for a larger ring. I was already working on losing weight for health reasons so I guess I get a giant prize at the end now ha. I am only 14lbs down so far tho. Sllloooowww process.

I am just not good on which sites are good to go through. What stores. But we have a very small budget. I looked into things like CZ, and white sapphires. But was told they cloud and look really bad really easily. I thought they looked fine. But they dont seem to come in good metals. Usually coated metals instead of full silver or full gold.

Yay! Other ladies with fat fingers!! Sometimes I feel like such a freak because I can't wear ring sizes 6/7/8 which seems to be all they carry in fashion rings.

After he proposed I was standing there, holding the ring, not putting it on because I didn't want it to not fit. He was so sweet, he had taken a fashion ring of mine to figure out my size... I started crying all over again when I realized the ring fit me!

I think it's a .5 carat solitaire with another .25 or .5 carat of tiny stones on the sides of the engagement ring and the wedding band.
