We’re only having 8 guests, all family, and the photographer and officiant are invited to our restaurant reception after the ceremony.

its ~5pm on a Wednesday (ceremony at 3pm), so I wanted to provide dinner. But my ceremony is an “elopement” package and reception space nearby would be another $1,200 BEFORE renting a table and getting catering.

I’m afraid I chose an overly princess-y dress. It’s not what I was going for, but once I tried it on I LOVED it. It was just in my budget and I don’t really want to get another dress for dinner.

does anyone have any reception ideas so I can keep my dress on all night without looking “weird” in a restaurant?

Girl that dress is gorgeous, I would rock it all night at a restaurant regardless! Who cares what people think?

Girl you only get to wear the dress once!! Wear it in a restaurant and stand out. You are the bride after all! remember that everyone sitting at dinner will be dressed up as well, so you won't stand out that badly. And if you're still concerned, you could have a cardigan or throw to put on your arms

I wouldn't worry! It's your special day, you'll be so focused on you and your husband you won't even notice. If I saw a bride in a restaurant with a small group, I'd be happy for her and wouldn't think it was weird. Every wedding is different!

Are you set on that specific restaurant? Many restaurants have a private space that will accommodate 8 and typically don't charge an extra fee for the space. Then you'll have more privacy anyway! But either way, just rock the dress. You'll never have another chance and its gorgeous.

I would wear my wedding dress walking through downtown if I thought I could stay awake long enough to do it after all the wedding festivities. Rock that dress in a restaurant or wherever you want to. It's a beautiful dress.

I agree with everyone else. I would wear it all night. Go through town and just walk in that beautiful dress. It’s your day!!

Ask your restaurant if they have a private party room you can reserve for yourself and your 8 guests. A lot of them do have them for free. I'm also having a restaurant wedding reception and this is what they've agreed to do for us as long as the restaurant isn't super busy that afternoon.

Just do a private dining room in a restaurant. You'd be in a private room anyway ya know?

We wore our dresses to a restaurant reception. The staff and other guests just kept congratulating us. Trust me, it will be fine.

It won't look weird! There's only one time in your life you can wear a wedding dress - so wear it all night if you love it!

We were having dinner in a local family-style pizza/brewery chain restaurant and there was a post wedding dinner happening on their patio. I don't think people will pay much attention.
