False lashes - yay or nay?

bea22, on January 4, 2016 at 9:34 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 34

From what I've seen so far, people on WW really seem to love false lashes. But do I really need them? I'm sure it looks better in photos, but I have pretty thick/long natural lashes as it is. I've never worn false lashes and I think I would just be very uncomfortable! What if they fall off? Or I cry too much? Or it feels like they're poking me in the eyes? Even if none of that happens, I'd be thinking about it all night, haha.

I tried them for our e-pics first. They make your eyes feel a but heavy, but I got used to them fairly quickly. Have your MUA put them on at your trial and see how they look/feel.

I loved how they looked in my pictures. If you MUA puts them on they should not fall off. I only wore them in my engagement photos but plan to wear them a few more times before the wedding to get adjusted to them. They initially felt very heavy but I did adjust to them.

Another vote for try them in your e-pics. When they first were stuck on, I was more struck by the fact that they were hitting halfway down my cheek every time I blinked rather than heavy/irritating. You can even have them cut the lashes so they're only applied to the outer half of your eyelid for a 'flare' look if that makes it easier.

I love false lashes and want to wear them everyday! I've considered eyelash extensions, but read that they ruin your regular lashes. But, I wish I could use fake lashes every day! I have pretty thick and long natural lashes, but fake lashes take it to another level.

My eyes get extremely irritated with the glue from false lashes. I saw that a friend of mine who does eyelash extensions was doing a new years sale and I jumped on it. I can't tell that they are on at all. The total time to put on a full set took awhile but they are IMO so worth it. I think its a fun option to try if you are looking for alternatives. (plus you look like a million bucks even first thing in the morning ;D )

I wore false lashes when I was a BM in my friend's wedding in April. They take some getting used to, but they look awesome in pics. The bride got lash extensions and LOVED them. That might be something worth looking into. They last awhile and feel more natural.

ETA - I will probably be doing false lashes for my wedding day. I love the look and I think they should hold up really well if they're "professionally installed" lol

Bear in mind that you blink much more frequently with false lashes and that may affect the number of good pictures you get.

Brianne, you can also just do outside corner lashes or individual pieces. I love when a bride has a lush set of lashes, real or not.

I have never worn them before but I am definitely getting them for the wedding. I love how they look on people and will be gorgeous in pictures.

I also have pretty long/thick eyelashes, but theyre kind of straight so even with mascara you can't see them well in pictures. I got falsies for our engagement pictures and they added so much to my look. They did feel really weird and heavy at first, but I got used to them very quickly. I would definitely recommend them.

So glad you posted this! I'm having the same internal debate lol. I came to the conclusion that I'll just see how they look/feel at my trial. Everybody is different you know?

I'm pretty sensitive about things around my eyes (have contacts) and was actually pleasantly surprised at how easy lashes are to wear and take off with warm water. They were professionally applied though.

My natural lashes are already fairly long/thick. At my makeup trial, the MUA tried out individual false lashes throughout, and I thought it was too over-the-top. Not bad-looking, but more nightclub than wedding (on me anyway). For the actual wedding, she just used a few at the outside edges, which gave a bit more oomph than mascara alone but still looked natural. So it's definitely not all or nothing--you can have your MUA try a couple different ways and see what you like best.

I would go for it but try to wear them five or six times ahead of your wedding.

I can promise you they won't poke you in the eye. They are very comfortable to wear - just a weird feeling the first few times. I say definitely go for it, there are a bunch of styles to try because they are not all made the same.

You have to be comfortable with them. Do several practice runs.

Do a couple practice runs with different shapes and sizes. Fake lashes are definitely not "one size fits all". When I wear them, I wear a half strip that gives me extra oomph just on the outside corners. You're pics will look great with them! But they do take some getting used to.
