False Eyelashes - a DO or a DON'T??

I have wimpy, basically non-existent eyelashes & was thinking of trying false eyelashes for my wedding day. Is anyone else doing this? I would definitely want to try them several times before the actual day so does anyone have any brand suggestions?? Thanks

I'm a makeup artist and I always recommend lashes for the wedding day! The difference they make on my clients is incredible, you wouldnt believe it.

I always use MAC lashes on my brides, I use the number 7's. Since you unsure and have never worn them, they might feel a bit uncomfortable at first, maybe for like a half hour or so, until you get used to them.

I would recommend booking a trial with a makeup artist in your area, asking her to put some lashes on you so you can get an idea, and ask her for some tips on how to apply them yourself, then I would go to CVS, get a few boxes of cheap lashes, and apply them every so often so you can get used to them, so that IF you decide to wear them on your wedding they wont feel awkward!

    Hope this helps!

FROM A MAKEUP PRO: Falsies are great - you can do a more natural look for a garden, outdoor, or day wedding - to a more dramatic look for a formal or evening wedding. Make sure you trim them to fit your specific eye when you try them on before the big day.

MORE TIPS: let the glue get tacky on the back of your hand for about 40 seconds before you drag your eyelash thru - then apply from the inside out of your eye. You can try looking straight into the mirror to apply OR look down into a mirror on the table.

I usually apply a thin eye liner first and a coat of mascara before I apply false lashes - apply another coat of mascara after to blend lashes. This helps guide you putting them on and makes them look more natural. The bride in my avatar has custom lashes I made for her eye shape - one of my specialties.

INSIDER TIP: Try these lashes - same manufacturer as retail lashes - http://www.madamemadeline.com/online_shoppe/products.asp?cat=Japonesque+False+Eyelashes

Beautiful on the eyes... If you are on the fence try corner lashes, applied to the outside corner of your eyes. Whatever you do, if you are planning on wearing them on your wedding day, practice wearing lashes beforehand, so that you will be totally comfortable wearing them on your wedding day. Not a good idea to have your intial relationship with false eyelashes on the day of.

I also wanted to say that if you look for INVISIBANDS - they look the most natural - as the band that holds them together is invisible - no a dark black line. I love them for all of my clients - especially those with very sparse lashes. http://www.madamemadeline.com/online_shoppe/products.asp?cat=Ardell InvisiBands & LashLites Eyelashes

Definitely a DO!! They make anyone's eyes more noticeable in pictures and just make you feel prettier. I was a ballet dancer for 16 years and we were required to wear them on stage for a more pronounced eye look. I also did pageants for 8 years and never went onstage without falsies! I love them. I wouldn't even think about taking wedding pictures without them!

I always offer my brides the lashes with their trial session that way you will know exactly how they look & feel. They def make all the difference in the photos and up close as well. I recommend having them put on professionally as it's not as easy as everyone is making it sound unless you use them all the time. Fit, Style and Placement are very important to make them look natural and blend with your own lashes.

The lashes on the model below are for a dramatic "arabic" style wedding

I didn't read the rest of these responses, but I had a friend recently do this for her wedding. I have no idea what kind she had on, but they looked completely fake. In every picture you can tell they are fake and the first night she had them for the rehearsal dinner one started to come off. I think her professional pics came out well, but any that were taken by a guest made her look awful b/c of the fake eyelashes. So, I guess be careful if you decide to do them. They can actually make you look worse, at times.

Individual eyelash extensions, when applied professionaly, will NEVER make you look worse! They will make you look much, much better: beautiful and elegant, the eye will be nicely enhanced without being obvious! I am not referring to "semi-permanent" eyelash extensions, I am referring to regular individual extensions. To illustrate, look at the photos of some recent trials. You can see the eye is enhanced, but they don't look fake!

I don’t really ever wear makeup and when i do it’s only mascara, however for my wedding day i will wear fake eyelashes (110 Ardell eyelashes to be specific) and i love how it looks with the way I’ll be doing my eyeshadow!! I highly recommend. Also recommend getting waterproof eyelash glue so those suckers STAY! Sorry for the close up scary pictures!
