Fall brides! What time is your outdoor ceremony?

FutureMrsG, on October 12, 2017 at 3:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 28

My goal was to get married at sunset for beautiful photos and it was suggested by my original photographer to marry at 5:30pm which is the reported sunset time for my area. My new photographer is saying that is too late and my photos will be in the dark! It's too late to change the time as I have already sent out invites. We decided to do a first look and get most of the staged pics out of the way because of this. My original photographer backed out (friendor, stupid mistake, shoulda read posts from you awesome ladies) 1 1/2 months before my wedding and had to scramble to find a new one. I am kinda devastated. Has this happened to anyone else? Were the photos a flop???

My outdoor ceremony is at 4 PM. Our wedding is the day before the time change so I figured it would already be getting darker earlier anyway & I didn't want our pictures to be in the dark, because we are not doing a first look.

Per google, the sun sets where I am at 4:19 on your date. For November, I do think 5:30 is late (and cold?), but there's nothing you can do now. At least you're taking picture beforehand.

Our ceremony will be outdoors at 3:30, but we plan to step outside during the reception and get a couple pictures depending on the sunset that night

5:30 is way too late for November. (And for an outdoor ceremony, I really hope this is Texas or Florida.)

We're getting married (indoors) at 4 so we can finish up and get photos during "golden hour" before and after the sun sets at 4:41. Most of our photos will likely be inside, though.

Where are you located? 5:30 seems super later for a sunset in November, unless maybe you're super far west in your timezone?

I'd start looking into fun, pretty lighting options for around your ceremony, if possible (and in the budget). If your photographer is good they should be able to get awesome nighttime pics as long a there is SOME source of light.

My ceremony will be at 4:30. My photographer and coordinator have suggested that time because the lighting will still be good for the ceremony photos. It will also give time for family photos immediately after and my FH and I can do private sunset photos as well.

I would trust what the photographer says about the lighting at that time. Can you add some lighting to the ceremony space to brighten it up a little? I would ask the photographer about it and see what they recommend doing.

Our (somewhat) outdoor ceremony is at 6pm. Sunset is projected at 6:50pm so we'll be done with the ceremony and get some photos in before the sun sets completely.

Also, keep in mind that as much as you can plan, you have no control over whether you get a gorgeous sunset or a cloudy, grey, rainy sky.

Mine will be between 4 to 4:30 haven't decided yet. Would love to have a later start time but FH is adamant about not doing a first look so we are limited on pictures we can take before hand.

Ours began at 5:00pm and sunset was at 7:15. Our photog said that pics are best 1 hour prior to the actual sunset time.

My wedding is in the middle of October and I am worried about it being slightly cold then. We are doing the ceremony at 2pm to make the most of the sun.
