Fake Nails or Real Nails?

Valerie, on March 5, 2010 at 10:50 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

I can't decide which I should do. I have had fake nails in the past but I find that I have a hard time keeping them up. A rebase every 2 weeks gets pricy after a while so I end up taking them off after a couple months. But then my nails go to crap for a couple months. I really like the clean look of fake nails with a french manicure but I don't know if I should get it knowing that I will be taking them off after the wedding. Should I suck it up and just do it since its my wedding or do you think a mannicure would look just as good?

I think you need fake. A mannicure lasts like 1 day for me. The white always chips off. I've had fake nails probably 5 times in my life....and I always end up prying them off within a month. I've never kept up with them and had fills

    Fake is so much nicer.

I have short nail, and i have had fake nails many times and the upkeep is expensive. I plan on having a manicure and painting them a little pink. Thats just me, and short painted nails are really in right now!

I say fake all the way. Its your wedding day. Who cares if you take them off afterwards and your nails don't look as nice. The wedding will be over so it won't matter. The polish will stay longer and look cleaner.

I am really opposed to fake nails, they are so bad for your real nails. But then again, I tan in a tanning bed so I have my own bad habits to deal with.

Its your wedding day so do whatever you think looks best on your nails!

Look into this. Most nail salons for an extra 10-20 bucks are now doing OPI gel nail polish. It takes an extra 10-15mins to put on and dries instantly and will not smudge or chip and lasts for 3-4 weeks (depends on how fast your nails grow) it is on your natural nail, and they can do french manicures http://www.stylehive.com/blog/hot-in-the-hive-opi-axxium-gels-for-perfect-nails

I am a recovering nail biter and am hoping that my real nails will be long / strong enough by June. I've had fake nails before and they feel weird on my hands, and they really hurt my real nails.

But I guess we'll see. With all the stress of wedding planning and work and everything else it's been pretty tricky to not bite! eek! (gross habit I know- but hey, I started up again after I quit smoking 2 years ago. Nail biting is definitely the lesser of the two evils!!)

I'm sticking with the real thing. Of course they will probably all end up breaking right before the wedding, so that may change.

I'm playing it by ear. I'll see what shape my real nails are in when it comes time for my wedding. I have strong nails and don't have a problem growing them. But right now about half of them are broken. Smiley sad So when it's time for my wedding, if theyre not all even I'll get gel overlays.

It is really up to you. You dont have to get fake nails. If you just go to a nail place they can buff and smooth your nails and paint them a couple days before the wedding to make them look like a french manicure. I know what you are saying. I wish you the best of luck :]

I am getting fake nails. I always seem to mess up just a plain manicure in about 5 minutes, and my nails don't stay long for very long. I think they will look nicer in the photos to be fake.

Agree with Jaemi... My sister gets the gel nails and they are shiny, sturdy and nice looking without being too long they get in the way.

Fake...my natural nails have a tendency to grow out crooked and look awful. I will get fake ones put on just for my wedding and honeymoon.
