Fake Flowers-help?

Gabbysitaxo, on December 21, 2020 at 11:42 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 19

Hi everybody! I am allergic to flowers, and I have been trying to decide what to do to compensate for this in the wedding. My bouquet is going to be a broach bouquet from etsy. But I cannot decide what to do for the bridesmaids! I can't be around flowers or I break out in hives and such. Any suggestions?

You can always give them a bouquet of faux flowers! Craft stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby sell them, and there's also companies online that have faux flowers! Etsy has tons of shops as well that specialize in faux flowers for weddings!

If you are wanting something besides fake flowers, I’ve seen weddings where bridesmaids have carried feather bouquets, lanterns, and macramé hoops or triangles

I suggest you to take your allergy meds on your day, just in case. Good luck shopping for faux flowers. Too many to choose from 😉

Sola wood flowers have become a very popular alternative if you're not afraid of a little DIY. And to me, they really look like the real thing!

Silk flowers, wood flowers, foam flowers, and paper flowers are all options that other brides have used. I used a mix of real and silk flowers at my wedding and no one could tell which were which.

Have you ever been tested to see which pollen ( from which flower families) you are allergic to? Most people, it is rather selective. You can be allergic to roses, which are put everywhere, and het sick when the potato field is in flower, and when apple trees or cherry trees are in blossom. And be fine with lilies and iris , lilacs and begonia and fuchsia. So you can carry no flowers ( I didn't), or fake flowers, but have some that you have been tested for , as a few here and there. We had many small flowering plants with colored foliage for centerpieces , And larger ones around the Inn patio where we danced. But only iris and 1 kind or giveaway bouquet s or corsage. Both sides of my family come within 2 generations from the arctic, where only lichen and a few other things bloom, and a huge number of family members bodies think most pollens are a killer invasion. But things from subarctic area, they have had blow in on the winds, for a lifetime, for many centuries. ( I am allergic to many kinds of grass pollens.) Testing is fairly cheap and routine.
In Europe and this country, in the north like here in N NH, no real flowers in great number were available for weddings. And Until flying and trucking brought in a regular supply 1960 on, people carried little bouquets of lace and satin ribbons, with beads and crystals sewn to places enough for a sparkle. My mom's has satin ribbons, each with the name of a friend done in tiny colored glass beads. With hand crocheted lace from cotton thread. And tiny glass flowers made of colored crystal beads and beading wire and floral wire stems. They called them tussie mussies, like the tiny nosegays or bouquets women carried then, with silk little blossoms. the components are each easy, a decorative outer holder, which start as a lace edged hankie. They are in museums, and pictured online. Fake Flowers-help? 1

discover a new craft. Ones like the bottom complete one are great at the end of pews, light enough to tie with clear monofilament thread to a pew end piece.

Depending on what time of year you’re getting married you could use faux fur muffs or open decorative fans

I'm doing fake flowers as well, though just for cost purposes. I'm super excited to order my bouquet from Forever Floral, and my bridesmaids bouquets from Sola Wood Flowers. They're both companies that carve wood into flowers. They're constantly rotating what's on sale, and you can also do custom bouquets if you don't like their selection. Or just order a bunch of individual flowers and design your bouquet yourself! They look way better than your typical artificial flower (in my opinion), which is why I'm opting for them
