Facebook Name Change

This may be a silly question, but is it ok to change my name on Facebook right after the wedding? I won't officially be going through the name change process yet with social security, DMV etc, but my husband (and I) are eager to start using my new last name on social media. Thoughts?

As far as I'm concerned, as soon as I sign the marriage license with my new last name, my name is legally changed. I plan to use the new name immediately and carry a copy of the signed license with me in my wallet as i maneuver through the process of changing it everywhere else so if i am questioned I can provide proof of my name.

FB does not require your legal name. If you want to start using it socially right away, change it on FB right away.

I don't use my real last name on there now anyway, so that my students won't find me. The 8th graders know that FH and I (who work in the same school) are getting married, but my current 7th graders don't know and the 6th grades he works with don't know me. So if I change it on fb, my students still couldn't find me.

I will probably change mine soon after when I have downtime. I don't know if that will be the day after, or the week after. Everyone at work knows I am getting married (we are a close team) and they know that I am changing my name. I see no reason why that should matter if you have them on FB.

I will be keeping my maiden on for at least a little while like "Beachy Maiden Married" I most likely will be changing mine that way anyway but apparently in Ohio its a pain in the ass to do. I want my maiden to be around because i have a heavy attachment to it and i am known professionally by it.

I changed mine on FB the morning after the wedding. I legally changed it at social security and the DMV this past Friday.

Facebook isn't going to ask you to prove your identity.
