Eyelashes

Nemo, on November 8, 2017 at 10:56 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

So I have the tiniest eyelashes. They're thin and short and difficult to see in pictures. I've tried a bunch of different mascaras, but nothing seems to make much of a difference. I plan to use fake lashes on the wedding day, but I think I'd like a little extra boost since my lashes are so short and thin to begin with.

I've been considering a couple different options and I'm between getting lash extensions, getting prescription latisse, or lash boost from rodan and fields.

They're all pricey, but extensions are definitely the most expensive and the most inconvenient so that wouldn't be something I would use long term.

Does anybody have any experience with any of these products/services?

I've used another option. I get rosemary essential oils from doterra. I think it's something like $30 for the bottle. Every month (I do it on the 1st) I add 2 drops to my mascara which I wear daily. Rosemary boosts hair growth. I've gotten comments asking if I have lash extensions because of how long and full they've become.

It's something else you may want to consider. I liked how cost effective it is and using something more natural. However, I will be considering lash extensions for the honeymoon so I don't have to worry about makeup in the water or just having it melt off my face in the heat lol.

I have used rapid lash for YEARS. It's fantastic. 1 bottle lasts me about 4-6 months. I highly recommend it. It's like 25 bucks on Amazon and it's AMAZING.

Right now I've been doing lash extensions, and my lashes are long and so pretty I love them. My lash extensions and natural lashes are about the same length w/ mascara on. If your lashes are already short, lash extensions may not be the best option since they can only go double your natural lash length.

@Melissa I've never heard of someone using those for eyelash growth! FMIL sells Doterra so this is a great option. Thanks for the suggestion!

@Ashley That is good to know, I didn't know that about lash extensions! I'll definitely look into that product, that price sounds amazing!

@Sydney I atleast think they can only double your natural lash length! My coworker and I went to the same lash technician and my lashes are significantly longer than my coworkers. She had shorter lashes to begin with though.

As far as rapid lash goes, my eyes were a little red for about 2-3 days after starting it. With lash extensions mine and my coworker experienced red eyes, and painful lower lash lines for a few days after getting the lashes done. If you want them done for the wedding/honeymoon I recommend getting them done about a month- a month and a half before! I love mine, and this is why I started looking into extensions now, to see how they will do for the wedding. Smiley smile But definitely try out the extensions BEFORE the wedding because your eyes might be red and painful the first 2-3 days but once you get through the initial few days they look fantastic!

ETA- I can't say enough about rapid lash though. I've been using it for more than 8 years now (stopped the last 3 weeks bc of the extensions). But with rapid lash you won't notice a difference for about 3-4 weeks. I've been using it so long if my lashes are starting to look thin or short, I can use rapid lash and in two days they look better. I would usually apply rapid lash 1-2 times a week after using it for so many years. When I initially started I used it every night before bed Smiley smile my FMIL uses it too but her lashes have gotten thicker, and a little longer. My lashes doubled and grew longer. (literally one line of lashes and another line of lashes underneath, its crazy lol) Its different for everyone though. I like my extensions because I don't have to wear makeup though! I'm worried they might ruin my natural lashes so I might take them off for a few weeks and see what they're like. Good luck!!

I would recommend getting extensions for the wedding, but maybe beforehand try lashboost or one of the other things PPs have suggested

I have never had extensions- and I probably never will.

They are (from my research) incredibly damaging to your lashes in the long run- and take a long time to repair from having them- they are high maintenance- special make up removers- no mascara- you have to make sure they dry straight- and when they start shedding your eyeballs look like they have mange. So- pass for me.

I use falsies weekly and am quiet satisfied with them- I get a lot of use out of them (re-using them rather than tossing every time)

I've been using BabeLash ($60 for a 3-months supply) for the past month and my eyelashes are crazy long! It's a similar serum to Rodan and Fields but cheaper. I have the same problem - normally very short, thin lashes and I'm super against the time and money commitment of extensions. This serum has literally been life changing lol.

@Shley those are all good things to think about, I hadn't even considered the redness that any of the products could cause!

@JoRocka Do you use strip false lashes for the individual ones? I haven't done a ton of research on lash extensions other than price, but that is something I'll definitely keep in mind. I definitely can't afford to lose the little bit of lashes I already have.

@Emily I'm going to look into that one too! How often do you use it? How quickly did you see results?

@Kelsey I'm going to look at that post, thanks for linking it here!

@Sydney - you start seeing pretty major results after 4 weeks if you're good about using it every night. Once your lashes get to the length you want them, you only have to use it 2-3 times per week for maintenance.

Just a warning, some of my friends have tried it and complained about eye irritation. I normally have sensitive skin and I did notice my eyes were a little more itchy at night but it went away after the first week. Be sure to not use more than recommended and don't itch your eye after putting it on until it dries.

I have tiny lashes too and got eyelash extensions (and I fills) for 2 years, only stopped because I needed to save money but I would definitely get them just for the wedding, and then remove them after. If I wanted really 'dramatic' lashes I would even place strip lashes over the extensions and blend them

I've been getting extensions for my wedding and I'm OBSESSED. Little annoying that you can't wet them for 48 hours but besides that they are pretty low maintenance. These are the first set I got, but I thickened up for my wedding day

I had lash extensions once. I loved them but I only did it once for maternity photos because my friend gifted them to me. It's her side business. My mom has been getting them done by her for the last 4-5 years though. She loves them but they're definitely pricey.

My co-worker just started using the R&F thing. She loved it at first but she says she thinks one side isn't growing like the other side. I can't really tell. ETA: punctuation

I use the full strip. Smaller clumps mean more gluing and applying vs one band to glue and be done with .

I had eyelash extensions for almost a year, when I finally took them off for good my eyelashes basically didn't exist Smiley sad

I use rapid lash and too faced better then sex mascara. If im going out or I'm feeling extra extra I'll throw on a pair of fake eyelashes (I use duo glue and Mac eyelashes!)
