Eyelashes

Mrs_MLF, on April 1, 2016 at 7:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 31

FH thinks false lashes are not attractive and very visibly fake. I have semi-long lashes (yup, as long as a semi lol) and am wondering if I could pull off not wearing them. I'm not sure I can convince him false lashes will look natural. What do you people think?

P.S. This is not my wedding make up. It's my everyday make up. And yes, I'm aware my eyebrows are horrible. They're naturally that way, and I don't know how to shape.

You're eyelashes are fine. I don't see why you would need to wear false ones.

But then again I'm not planning on wearing any makeup to my wedding (nor have I ever worn any), soo....maybe I'm not the best one to answer?

Stop disparaging your brows, they're fine! Your eyelashes are perfect! Maybe just play with other types of mascara?

As someone obsessed with false lashes, I can tell you there are some that are light enough to look natural. If you're looking for cheap, KISS brand at Walgreens/rite aid. The eye lash called "shy" is pretty light. If you're okay with spending some money, huda beauty at Sephora has amazing lashes. let me see if I can find light ones

ETA: jk, most of huda's are heavy.

ETAx2: at ulta, there's this brand of eyelashes that I THINK has a British flag on the box. Or something that looks similar. Those are very natural

I think you have great lashes! I agree with Beckadee. If you want to make them look fuller go into Ulta or someplace and have them put some mascara on you to try.

The reason fake lashes are nice are for pictures. Flash washes features out and that's why they do heavy makeup for wedding pics or performers and dancers wear makeup that looks way heavy in real life but looks good on photo and videos. Here's an example of my wedding make up and real makeup. I have fake lashes in wedding photo and heavy make up but it doesn't really look it due to the photo lenses and lighting.

Not all false eyelashes are the same. Some DO look over-the-top and fake, and some look natural and beautiful. Of course the good ones that don't look fake will be more expensive--i.e. higher quality lashes. Material matters with lashes. If you want them, don't go cheap, if you don't want to go for the higher quality lashes, just skip them .

False lashes was Reason 1 why I did not want to do my own make up. (main reason for pro-makeup being getting pampered on your wedding day. doing your own...is too much work and doesn't feel like you're being pampered...)

You don't need false lashes but start at the root of the lash and slant upwards and put two to three coats on. Also I would advise going a little heavier on you'd eyeshadow:-)

Your lashes look great! If you did want to go a little more dramatic for the photos, there are some high quality lashes that don't look costume-y (I've always liked Ardell ones, and Shu Uemura ones are pricey, but really good). Individual lashes tend to look more natural strip ones, though if you aren't used to applying them, you may want to make sure a pro helps out.

All about body confidence--including lashes.. BUT. Every. single. photo. you see in a magazine or on pinterest, I guarantee they have fake lashes. And they truly make all the difference in pictures! The camera flash will wash you out, and the lashes just help your eyes to pop. The RIGHT lashes should not look fake. Sorry for the awkward selfie, but here's an example of mine for reference.

You should do what makes you comfortable, but know that 1) Not all lashes are created equal, and 2) You will look different in professional photos than in person or in selfies

If you don't want the full fake lashes do the individual ones.

The first time I ever wore fake lashes was during my bridal photo shoot. The second time was at my wedding. Holy heck they look AMAZING in photos. It will bring your look to the next level. If you get cheap, crappy ones they look fake. If you are having a makeup artist, they will have decent ones. I highly suggest wearing some!

Your lashes are beautiful! If you want to wear fake lashes, I say use individual lashes instead of strips

I'm going with fake so I don't have to worry about melting mascara, because no matter how water proof it is I always end up with mascara under my eyes. Its a personal preference thing though.

Lilly Lashes are the best lashes out there on the market, and are made with natural looking mink instead of human hair, so they're more plush but not fake looking. Your lashes are BEAUTIFUL but for wedding photos I definitely agree you should wear either individual false lashes or a light strip lash. Consult with someone at your nearby Sephora or Makeup store to help you pick out and try on a new set. Also, If you're using a makeup Artist for the wedding you should have her put the lashes on you during your trial.

It's all about preference! Of course you could go without, but if you still want a little extra without looking fake, try lash extensions instead. It's more expensive, but they put individual lashes on and they tend to look far more realistic up close than the strip lashes do.
