Eyebrow Threading

Jeanmarie, on October 31, 2017 at 3:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 34

I was blessed with giant eyebrows (actual a beautiful unibrow) at birth. I typically do a lazy tweeze job every couple of weeks. I thought about getting them waxed before the wedding, but then threading was recommended. I have a pretty high pain tolerance so I am not worried about that. I do have a few questions though.

Have you had your eyebrows threaded?

Do you prefer it over waxing?

How far before the wedding would you recommend doing this?

Is this something I should do a trial run on first?

Always do a trial run before changing your normal beauty routine. You want to make sure you like how it looks.

Waxing is quicker. Threading lasts longer. But you should always do a trial first. Especially for you face

I get my eyebrows threaded regularly. I highly recommend it because the shape is usually more neat and precise compared to wax. Also there is less redness and irritation at least for me with threading.

Its painful, yes. But like with most hair removal, the more you do it, the less it tends to hurt.

I would say, go to a reputable threading salon and try it before your wedding. If you hate it, your hair will grow back and you can always fill in with make up as needed. I doubt it would come to that though.

I get my eyebrows threaded and I love it. I've never gotten my brows waxed though so I can't compare too much, however I do like the fact that they don't have to use harsh chemicals on your skin or have to pull on it (causing wrinkles). I'm planning on getting mine done a few days beforehand.

And yes- get a trial done and if you like it, schedule an appointment with that same person. I've only had one negative experience wherein they made my eyebrows thinner than I wanted, but they still looked pretty good. Now I know not to go to that lady anymore.

Keisha - negative, I have not!

Thanks everyone. I like that threading would last longer. Like I said, I am lazy with the tweezers so it might be a good idea. I was thinking of doing a trial run this weekend (about 40 days out) just to see how I like it. I don't want my eyebrows thinner, just "shape-lier" or neater, I guess.

Ehhhh with my past experiences with threading, I would pass. I too have thick brows and have just learned to tweeze them and shape them on my own. Threading really irritated my skin and they never left them how I wanted. They would either be done way to thin or no change at all. I drew the last straw when they were starting to cut my skin. Never going back, ouch.

I guess it's a matter of preference and how good the salon where you go is too. I would definitely do a trial run. I think it may be too late to do that now. What if they thread off your whole brow?? I would be petrified to have tiny brows on my wedding day. JS

I very much prefer having my brows threaded over waxing. It lasts just as long, is more precise, and doesn't irritate the skin like wax does. I would suggest looking at a few different salons/locations in your area that offer it and read reviews. Then schedule a trial run for sure. Do the trial run now, then have your brows threaded/shaped about 3 days prior to your big day. Make sure you are vocal about what you are looking for (i.e. just nicely shaped up, opposed to super thin).

Pain wise it is not bad. I have gone to shitty threaders and it hurts but find someone that knows what they are doing. Threading gives you a better shape than waxing in my opinion.

I only get my eyebrows threaded now when I do go to get it done. I've only had positive experiences- the shape is clean and beautiful and precise every time. I would say you could go two days before as a good time, and mine lasts about two weeks before I need to pluck strays, and a month at least before they completely grow back. I've had waxing and threading, and definitely prefer threading.

Do a trial, just so you aren't nervous for it later, but most threading places near me at like $10-20, it shouldn't break the bank.

P.S. Wanted to add--Threading does not last longer. It pulls the hair out at the root just like waxing..the trade off is, it's more precise so it can get those smaller trouble hairs, and you won't have the skin irritation waxing causes.

I loveeee threading. It always ends up clean and well defined. Definitely recommend. I would definitely do a trial because the first time is somewhat rough. It can get very pink and a little swollen. After your first time, you're good to go. The definition in the eyebrow lasts about three weeks for me.

I would thread them now, if you like them go back and get them done before the wedding.

Threading looks amazing and I love it. It doesn't hurt that much, just a little bit more than waxing. I tweeze mine but only because I have them microbladed now. Before I would get them waxed or threaded. I prefer threading them but it's more expensive where I live

Thanks everyone. I do appreciate the advice. I am going to start looking into salons in the area who provide threading / waxing before making my final decision. I will do a trial run this weekend though regardless.

One tip that I learned was to tell the person threading that you are growing you eyebrows out so just clean up. That way they will leave any sparse areas for you to fill in and they won't try to "fix" the sparse areas by making your brows thinner.

I love threading! idk how to say this Politically correct, but Philippines and Indian women have the most beautiful eyebrows and so i jumped at the chance to get mine done when i found a shop they had open near where i live. My eye brows are just as dark and thick so it's nice to not get the typical Beverly Hills arched eyebrows. This is just my opinion. I think it hurts more because it lasts longer but the results are awesome

I get my eyebrows threaded allll the time! It's super easy and fast! I'm usually in and out of the salon within 5-10 minutes, and only pay $2.75. Even the first time I got it done, the redness went down within a few hours.

Definitely do a trial run so you know what works for you, but for me doing it the day before my event is perfect, and you get such a defined shape!

LOVE THREADING! I'm Greek and similarly have more than enough eyebrow hair to go around. In my opinion threading comes out looking 10x better than waxing every single time. The women who thread (and I have gone to numerous places) always seem to do a great job and understand how to make your brows beautiful without ripping out half of your hair. I also think the hair grows back slower with threading than waxing. I usually get mine threaded every couple of months and just maintain in between with tweezers. Another benefit- no risk of BURNS! That literally happened to me before from getting waxed with wax that was too hot- I had scabs on my brows for a month!

Would definitely recommend a trial for whatever you do though!
