About 2 years ago I chopped all my hair off. I love my hair short but I have been growing it out since January for our wedding. I know I will need extensions to achieve the look I am after. I have had bonded extensions before to add fun colors to my hair but never a full head. My stylist said I could wear a halo extension if I wanted that way I wouldn't waste money if I chose not to leave the bonded extensions in. I have no experience with halo extensions and honestly had to look them up to see what they were.

Has anyone used them? What are your thoughts? My stylists even said they are easy enough for me to put in and take out anytime.

@AG2005 that's perfect! I've only had the tape in and clip in styles, so I didn't even realize your stylist could add lighter single bonded pieces. That's super cool! I may need to add to my hair collection now Smiley laugh

It's super easy!! A weft cost $55 and the snap clips were Ike 5? There are lots of tutorials.

When I was younger (in my "goth" days), I used to get bonded hair extensions put into my hair to add a pop of color. They are AWESOME and definitly gave me a boost in confidence! There are a few things you have to be careful about regarding these:

    1) Find a good stylist who can put them in properly. From personal experience, I had a stylist put in some bonded extensions once, and the bonds showed through the top of my head. it was really embarrassing, and I could see how that would totally make a bride panic!

    2) Bonded extensions are a several-month commitment. You won't be able to remove them. And you can feel them on your head sometimes, but especially when you are laying down with your head on a pillow. You can go and get them removed, but that's alot of money & work spent for only wearing bonded extensions for a couple days!

    3) They require a lot of work to maintain. Again, this is personal experience. I have naturally thick, coarse, curly hair and in order to care for the extensions properly, you have to comb out the knots between the scalp and the bonds. If not, you can get messy, painful knots close to the scalp, damaging your hair and your bonds.

Halo hair extensions or clip in extensions are, in my opinion, the easier, less-stress opinion. I just got a set of clip in extensions for my wedding and I was surprised at the lightness of them, and the quality. I really suck at putting them in, though... But I don't think it's the fault of the extensions, rather I've always have difficulty with such things. LOL.

    1) Halo or Clip-ins don't require a commitment. You can put them in and take them out as you please. So many style options!

    2) These types of extensions have specific care requirements. From my research, you shouldn't shower with your extensions in, nor should you sleep in them, to prevent tangling/matting/damage to the hair.

    3) Make sure your are getting a high quality product. This is one of those things where you get what you pay for. Do not purchase cheap or synthetic hair, as it won't curl or style with normal hair styling tools (it might even burn!). Remy Human hair is the best you can get for extensions; it can be styled (with it without hot tools), dyed, or cut.

    4) Make sure your stylist knows how to work with clip-ins/halos. A good stylist (or at least one who has worked with these types of extensions) will be able to incorporate your extensions into your hair, without any clips showing. I strongly recommend getting a trial done, and bringing your extensions with you so you can see how your style works with them in, and also to make sure any clips are not sticking out!

Ultimately, the choice is yours, but I hope this helped!! Smiley laugh
