Excuse for not going to a wedding

One of our close friends just told us that they can't make it to our wedding because they have to drop their boyfriend at the airport. The airport is only 10 minutes from our wedding venue and our day will go for at least 8 hours. What would you do in this situation?

What? I don't get why you people wouldn't go to a wedding without your man. Oh brother.

Anyway,  yep my feelings would be hurt but unfortunately there isn't much you can do.  Depending on your closeness,  have a conversation.  Communication is key.

In my opinion, I would take that as they clearly don't care enough because their schedule is more important apparently. At the end of the day, that's their choice. For you, one less mouth to feed! I wouldn't want anyone there who didn't really want to be!

My feelings might be hurt, but I'd move on. And probably rethink the closeness of our friendship.

A friend of DH and his girlfriend RSVP'd yes to our wedding, and then the week before told him that they wouldn't be able to come because they were just told about a "sudden family trip" that they needed to go on that weekend. However, the girlfriend was just posting pictures of them two at a music festival all weekend which was the real reason why they skipped last minute (even after we had paid for them).

It sucks, and it definitely shows what is more important to them but you can't really control what happens or do anything about it. Just let it go and enjoy your wedding!

Even though it sucks, there really isn't a lot you can do.
