Evolution of Dance...

ChancesAre4u, on October 29, 2009 at 5:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

Ok, I know most of you have seen these..if you haven't, go on YouTube and search Evolution of Dance or Wedding Receptions, and basically instead of a traditional first dance, the bride and groom do a mix of dancing from different decades with songs that match that decade (80's, 90s, etc.) it's really kind of funny.

In both of our families, we all love to dance, I want to put a spin on this, so after all the formalities of the reception are done, and everyone has eaten, I want the DJ to play music all the way from the 50's to the present, I want a club like feel from every decade, and everyone in attendance will have memories of that decade whether from going to a sock-hop to going to a disco to going to a hip hop club. I am so excited about this!!!

Chances this is a great idea! We did the same thing at my wedding too, but we started it all the way back in the 20's. Worked out so fantastic too because that way I got to actually play my grandparent's wedding song (and dance with gramps to it), my parent's song, and so on. The timing worked out awesome too, because as the night goes on, it seems that only the younger people are the ones who stay, and so ending with hip hop music suited them perfectly!

Analy, that was a pretty neat idea. Chances I feel you on your thoughts. I want my reception to be like going to an adult club. Playing all the hits from back in the day all the way up to songs that come out the week of the wedding..LOL!!. We really want for everyone to be included and enjoy themselves. Nothing like getting your auntie up on the floor to her favorite Lenny Williams or Smoky Robinson song...I cant wait!!!

Yea I like that's a lot. Even after those who hear their favorite kind of music,...they will still dance to the other music because the will be in such a great mood.

We are going to play one of the songs that was popular the year that we were each born. SHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Hubby doesn't know yet. You could do that for you parents, you and FH, your kids etc. It would span the generations and be really sweet too.
