Evite? Invitation? Facebook event?

Nikki, on October 7, 2019 at 7:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 35
Now I know alot of brides will be bias and say invitations but the price of a good invitation that I'd like to buy that I actually like, then mail out to each person and hope it doesn't get lost hope they rsvp is just so costly I would rather spend it elsewhere yes there are cheap invitations but you still have to send them and if they get lost you have to resend it. Then most people will throw it out and don't get me started on the trees wasted, what are you guys thoughts? I mean the price of the invitation I want is the price of the caricature artist for my cocktail hour and I will still have money to buy Jackie Ania makeup palette and go to Qdoba for dinner I'm just saying! Help I talked to my moh and she thinks it's a great idea, I plan on buying one to get it photographed at our wedding but I just don't know. What are you guys doing.

I think an evite is fine if you’re having a pretty causal wedding. If it’s semi formal or formal I don’t think it’s appropriate because the invitation conveys the formality of the event.

We did a Facebook event as a “virtual save the date”. We still sent out paper invites, tho, because we have a lot of elderly guests who don’t understand Facebook or email. I was able to get nice discounted invites that I actually liked for $1 each through vistaprint (that includes the cost of rsvp cards and envelopes).

It was such a good deal that I ended up buying 90 and only spent $91 with the tax. That gave me 90 invites, 90 rsvp cards, 90 envelopes for rsvp cards, and 90 envelopes for the invitations themselves. And vistaprint always had coupon codes floating around! I happened across a 40% off code, which is how I kept the cost so low. I didn’t need all 90, but my FMIL went invite crazy so I wanted to make sure I had extras if I needed.

Websites, emails, facebook and even text is more than fine. It’s all about knowing your guests. Send snail mail to the older individuals in your family who aren’t tech savvy but you can keep everything else electronic.

That's what I was thinking even doing a invitation video idk because the thought of people throwing it away is heart breaking and to spend so much on paper I can't wrap my head around that. I'll get some for those I know who would keep or want one or elders but everyone else idk

We didn’t do save the dates and just told our friends and family to save the date (about 100ish people). We did send invitations, but had people RSVP online via our website and had all wedding info on our site (hotels, details, pre wedding info, etc). Invitations were around 400 and included the addresses pre-printed for 150. I ordered through Minted and they were great!

I used both Facebook and paper invitations. I used Facebook for the younger part of the croud (and anyone else I found), and then sent out paper invitations to the older side of the croud (and to anyone else who asked and was invited). Also some guests needed a paper copy to get the weekend off (like my little sister who's in the military and had drill that weekend)

I used The Knot for our website and RSVP and it was great. There were no issues and we were able to save money and use the money elsewhere.

Love this glad you posted it, I was considering this but my mother thought this was ridiculous. I love the idea of letting everyone R.S.V.P. online and just making invitations for the older adults that don't use the internet Smiley heart Saves so many trees!

I did a baby shower last year and spent almost $500 including postage for like 50 nice invitations. Nothing spectacular.. I didn't want to spend a fortune on wedding invites nor did we have the time, with a 4 month engagement for a destination Wedding. So, we went paperless for everyone. Invites and details were sent out via email, text and Facebook messenger. We have 3 times the guest list we were expecting and the responses were super fast, for the most part. Worked for us! Saved time, money and trees
