Etsy shop dispute

vghjfcxgxfgdh, on June 14, 2017 at 6:36 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

Has anybody ever had to open a case on Etsy? I ordered a wire hanger for dress pictures over a month ago and have not heard anything from the seller. When I go to click on the shop, it doesn't exist anymore, but I am still able to see the product I ordered with reviews from a handful of people experiencing the same thing. According to the sellers site, it should have reached me by now. With 9 days to go, I think i'm going to have to chalk this up as a loss I have tried contacting the seller twice asking if the item will ship in time and heard nothing.

I opened a case with Etsy. I'm just curious if any of you have ever had to do something similar and if so, what the outcome was? Is it easy to get your money back? I have never had an issue with Etsy until now!

So interesting, I have not heard of this before. I hope you can find another person on Etsy to do this in time for your big day!

Although it didn't happen to me, and was not wedding related, my best friend bought some earrings on Etsy and never got them (it happened to multiple people). Etsy fully refunded the money and shut down the person's shop. I don't think she had to do too much - Etsy was pretty easy to work with. Sorry to hear you won't get what you wanted in time!

I ordered from a new shop on Sunday and the hanger is already on its way so I'll have one at least! Just frustrating that I haven't heard anything from the original shop!

    Thanks @riededo! That comforts me!

I need to do that too! Good luck with your dispute. Etsy won't take kindly to vendors who don't deliver or respond!

Happy to hear that @KE. I've had a ton of great experiences on Etsy. We custom ordered our paper wedding flowers there, custom wedding bands, cake topper, jewelry, hair clips, picture frames, custom decanter etc. etc. I only order from people with a plethora of reviews and they have to be over 4 stars (generally pretty close to 5).

I actually had to open a case because of fake wedding rings! I needed a wedding band for a show I was in. For $6 this shop had 3 rings. Great! I thought. Cheap, and I'll have extras!!

Nope. Never got them. Contacted the shop multiple times. Nothing.

Like @riededo said, Etsy gave me a full refund and closed their shop.

Glad you at least are set with a backup plan!!

I opened a case with a t-shirt once. I ordered in November for Christmas and it never came. I contacted them multiple times (the shop) with no word. I reached out to Etsy and they refunded me the money I spent (shipping included) and then they dispute it with the shop itself so you get your money back. Their customer service is phenomenal and this was all over email

Wow, great to know how awesome Etsy is!!!

And I don't mean this sarcastically, I said this after reading all the comments about them refunding money & closing shops of sellers who don't deliver. It's good to know Smiley smile

I've not had this happen with Etsy. I did have this happen with eBay and I can't recall why, but eBay wouldn't get involved but bc I paid with PayPal, paypal actually refunded me my money. If you paid with PayPal they may also help you out

If Etsy can't/won't do anything (which is sounds like this will get resolved, so that's good!) if you paid through PayPal you can dispute through them too!

I back up what others have said--I had to open a case when a shop owner ghosted me after agreeing to a refund. As far as I was left on their communications, he never responded to Etsy even after multiple warnings he'd be shut down, but they refunded me anyway. They have great customer service, so go ahead and open a case!

Yes I did, and it was horrible. Etsy closed my case and said they can't mediate cases based on quality (I received a crappy cake topper). Lucky, I opened a case with the bank and got my money back through them.

Since this is a prop purely for pictures, I would just skip it.

If you absolutely must have fancy hangers, IKEA has white hangers that you can decorate for dress hanging purposes.

If you notice lately, Etsy also requires shops to have a Purchase Guarantee stating that if you don't get what you ordered you WILL get your money back. If the shops don't refund you, Etsy will Smiley smile

Had a similar thing happen to me: order took a long time and then the shop closed. Etsy was great and issued a full refund shortly after I opened a case.

I've had to open one case with Etsy...the seller designed the product for me, even made a shipping notification, and then the product never arrived and her shop disappeared shortly after. Etsy handled it really well and gave me a full refund. It was easy and painless; sounds like yours would go similar to mine based on what you told us. Smiley smile

@TheBride: The shop name is LimitlessUnlimited . I would be curious if you are dealing with the same one! You can t look it up becuase she closed it down. You still have time until your wedding, BUT if your shop cuts it close, I ordered one through Whiskeynweddingbells . I ordered on Sunday and got the shipping notification today! I even messaged the owner asking if I would be getting the hanger on time and she replied right away and said it would be more than enough time. Yay!
