Hi all - I would love some input on this.

My fiance and I would like to have an adults-only wedding. Since getting engaged, TEN of our friends have gotten pregnant (nuts, I know!), who will then have infants/newborns by the time of our wedding this upcoming August. We aren't sure what to do, because I don't want to cut off an infant from breastfeeding, etc, however we definitely don't want ten new babies at our wedding. Some that had their baby this spring have already mentioned that they're excited about having a weekend away, but there are others who will have just had their baby within the month right before our wedding. What is the best approach? Do we just say no babies, or should we be letting those with very 'new' newborns bring them?

OK. I have read most of these responses and I am fuming right now. My daughter's wedding is April 7, 25 days from now. My nephew, who I adore, included his baby on his reply, even though she clearly was not listed on the invite. She will be 5 months old at the time of the wedding. We intentionally did not include any infants at all, for obvious reasons. They do live about 100 miles from us, and I realize they will have to leave the baby for several hours in order to attend. She leaves her frequently for several days at a time for work trips, so I know she's got the whole breast milk you handled.

The last thing anybody want is a screaming baby during our ceremony. I did not go to all of this time and expense to make everything perfect only to have it spoiled by that. How should I handle this?

I didn’t handle it, I just let it go. They brought her and the mom stayed inside with her during the ceremony, then they all left the reception early. For reference, the mom wore yoga pants to our beautiful, $50k evening wedding. Clearly, showing respect to us was not high on her list. Good luck with your wedding!
