Escort cards- names!

Jenn, on June 5, 2013 at 10:27 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

We have a few people invited with names like "Bob" and "Bill" so, should I assume they are all "Roberts" and "Williams"? Or, should I just keep them as we know them (Bob and Bill). Also, there are two men on FH's side of the family that have the same name (We'll say "Tom Smith") they both have different meal choices so they need two different colored escort cards. How do I differentiate which "Tom" is who?! I also have one of these on my side. Confusing....

How'd you address their invitations? I'd go with those names for Bob and Bill...

For the two Toms -- is one a Jr. or some other number? Can you write in their meal choice so maybe they'll know "Oh, I picked the chicken, not beef, this one must be mine."

I'm going with the name that I call them, regardless of what their given name might be.

I have more room widthwise than lengthwise on my escort cards so I'm putting the last name at the top, with first names underneath, table number on row 3.

I'm going to display them alphabetical by last name, rather than by table.

Ours is not to formal, I was just debating this too -- so I'm doing bob and bill Smiley smile But if it were formal I would use Robert and William (I did address the invites this way)

I'm going with full name and in alphabetical order... we have a ton reoccuring names it just easier to have Robert Jones and Robert Smith printed for escort cards

Good call Paris, I like that idea! Are you doing Mr and Mrs or just

    last name

    first name

    table #

I can't really remember how I addressed all the invitations but it would be easier to use the name that we call them. My cards are pretty small.

I wouldn't assume they're all Roberts and Williams if you're not sure. I have a sister named Jenny - just Jenny - and she hates it when people just assume thats a nickname and call her Jennifer

I did it like Paris, whatever we called them. H's brother is "Michael" but his escort card said Mike. My FSIL is Elizabeth and that's what she goes by, too.

IMO, Escort Cards are informal... they just tell people what table they are at.

Yep do what you call them. (FH would get really freaked if you gave him one that said Willard. And people could just be a Kate or something not the related full name - if you try and do that you enter a minefield)

If there are more than one either also add surnames or do what they are eating (or the table)

(you don't need titles on them)
