Error on rsvp card

Jackie, on August 7, 2022 at 9:53 AM Posted in Planning 1 16
I was so excited to order our invitations and RSVP card inserts. They get to our home, I tear open the box and my heart sunk when I read the RSVP card. It says “PEASE RSVP VIA EMAIL”. I could just cry! It’s completely my fault, I missed it when proof reading before ordering. My immediate family is trying to convince me it is not a big deal, most people won’t even notice and it’s not worth re-ordering but I am beating myself up over it and so embarrassed. It’s the first impression people will have for our wedding and there’s a typo! What do I do? Do I send them out as is or re-order them? Error on rsvp card 1

Oh man thats is bummer and I can understand why you are upset but as your family says some people won't notice and luckily the error does change any of the important info on the card (like wrong date or time). Can you call the vendor and see how long and how much it costs to fix it if it'll make you feel better but I wouldn't worry about it too much if you send as is. Your wedding will be beautiful if you regardless of that typo. Good luck!

I totally agree with Rosebud! I had ocd when it came to my invites, but had to remind myself that no one would notice those small little imperfect pieces (:

This is going to be completely dependent on your feelings. I, personally, would absolutely have to have them reprinted. I notice spelling and grammatical errors immediately, and this would drive me absolutely bat crap crazy! However, as your mom pointed out, some people may not even notice. I would ask yourself how much is it going to bother you in the weeks and months to come. If it is going to really bother you, I would contact the company you used and see if they could rush order new ones for you. They may even re-print them for free or a for a discount!

I would leave it as is. People normally aren't reading the cards that close to notice. It took me a minute to figure out what was wrong while reading your post. I initially thought you were upset because it asked to RSVP by email and you wanted them mailed back. The missing "l" didn't even phase me.

You can contact the company immediately and find out if they can reprint them. Some will do that no charge.

It's a beautiful card. It certainly can't hurt to reach out to the vendor to see if they can do something... even if it's to give you a coupon code to reorder new ones. Admit it is your fault and see what they'll do. Maybe they'll cut you a deal?? It would drive me crazy to send out cards with a type on them.

I didn't even notice reading your post. I don't think it's a big deal. I'm usually a stickler for grammar, but mistakes happen.

Personally, I would not send those out with an error.
Next time, you can post on here and we’ll proofread it for you.

If it makes you feel better, the first time I ordered RSVP cards I forgot to change the text color and the mockup date on the template! It's supposed to say September lmao. Luckily we were only sending them to a handful of our older guests ( the rest are online rsvp ) so it was cheap to reorder them. I personally would reorder yours although I know it's frustrating

I would go with your gut mishaps happen and I think people will be too distracted with how pretty the card is to notice it.

I hate to ask, but who determined the wording and who checked it before printing? Hopefully the vendor.

I would absolutely reprint them. Attention and care to detail says a lot about a person, and I think it's worth asking the company for at least a discount on your second order. Kind of BS that they didn't say anything about that, too.

Honestly, I didn't even notice it. I had to look at a few times and reread your post to see what was wrong. I think most people won't even notice it....or more importantly care about it.

Send them as is! Since its your error, I assume the company would make you pay for new ones. That, and you'd have to wait for production and delivery again. Could push back the invitation timeline.

My "details" card came with "dinner to be served at ficve thirty".... just like with you, that was my error. I decided not to let it bother me because A) everyone knows what its supposed to mean and B) when we're reading, we really only "read" a few letters and our brain fills in the rest as to what it expects to see. Thus why you didn't notice the error in your proofing. Chances are most people won't even notice.

If it makes you feel better, I thought the "mistake" was that it says RSVP via email, but you wanted them mailed. It wasn't until you said "typo" that I went back to read more carefully and caught it.

I agree with an above poster, people know what you meant and it's not like it's a wrong date or address to create confusion. That said, if you know it's going to bother you, or if you have the type of family who will tease you for it (mine would...), then get them reprinted.
