While I don't wear it to work, and we have it insured, I just can't imagine not being able to see it or wear it when I want.

Can you ladies tell me if you have had custom replicas made, and any suggestions on having it done? I absolutely don't want a CZ from Khols, as I'm looking to keep the unique antique aspect of my ring.

What's the point in having a ring that you can never wear??? Anyway... you could wear an Enso or Qalo ring if you're that concerned

I have an expensive heirloom too - FH felt this way in the beginning but came to his senses because I work inside an office in a safe, suburban area. I personally wouldn't want to travel with it and if I have to walk through a sketchy parking lot at night or something I just turn the diamond inwards so all you can see is the plain band. All you can do is insure it and be mindful.

@kay believe me I would carry if I could, but the laws in many states don't allow concealed carry.

Why would he give it to you if he doesn't want you to have/wear it? I would be so upset to not be able to wear my engagement ring! What about once you get married and have to add a band to it? Is he going to put that in a safety deposit box too? Sorry but don't settle for less than you deserve! I love showing mine off!!!

I think it's much like svg's post, where her fiancé eventually became more comfortable. It may just be initial paranoia, as I've never owned anything this expensive - including my car. Thank you for the tip about turning it inwards.

Given my career choice, I frequent rough areas, and would like a faux replica made for when I don't feel comfortable wearing my ring to certain areas or while traveling. While he's come to his senses regarding keeping it in the safety deposit box, I still think it's a good idea to be cautious.

You could always just wear your original ring and if you are walking around or are in a place you're nervous about someone trying to steal it, you can spin it on your finger so the diamond is in your hand and it looks like you just have a band on. This might help some? We live in Baltimore too, I usually spin mine if I am walking in the city or something and don't want to bring a lot of attention to myself.
