Engagement ring on the wedding day

Sheila, on July 7, 2019 at 10:17 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 20
On the day of my wedding do I wear my engagement ring ? Do I put it with the wedding band and wear it during the ceremony or I don’t wear it at all? Someone knows if there is a specific rule? ❤️

My jeweler said to just wear your engagement ring on your right hand during the ceremony so your left is free for your wedding band. Then right after the ceremony is over you can slip your engagement ring back to your left hand. Your wedding band should be closer to your palm anyway.

I wore mine on my left hand like normal and my husband put my wedding band in front of it. I switched it after the ceremony.

It’s totally up to you. I know many people who opted to wear it on their right hand that day until they had the wedding band on. However that doesn’t work for everyone due to size differences between fingers. I will have mine on my left hand and fh will put the wedding band on. We will switch the order of them before photos

My fiancé asked me to wear no rings so I'll have given him my E-ring before the ceremony (we are doing a first look) then he will give it to me after.

I didn’t wear it at all, it was placed with my wedding band, so when my husband went to put the band on, he put them both on together. I have heard many wear the engagement ring on their right hand, then switch it over to their left after the ceremony.

Most people wear it then put the wedding ring on and after the first day, switch them

My wedding band is a double band that my engagement ring sits on top of so they will be soldered together. I will not be wearing my rings until he puts them on my finger during the ceremony.

I gave mine to my dad right before we walked down the isle. He put it in his pocket and gave it back after the ceremony.
I literally almost forgot to take it off, I didn’t want it on for the ceremony.

Depends! If you plan on wearing both you can keep the engagement ring on, it's generally the wedding band goes closer to the palm (and is often more comfortable) so you can wear the engagement on the right hand and switch it. If you have a meeting set (engagement goes inside of the new setting) I'd do that before the wedding as it can be a tight fit and you don't want to be struggling at the alter with it. My friend had that happen and while she laughed it off it can be overwhelming for other people.
If you plan on wearing just the wedding band you don't have to wear the engagement ring or wear it on the other hand.
I'm getting an entirely new ring so I'll likely leave my engagement ring at home the day before.

It’s is up to you and your FH as to how you do it. I am keeping my ring on by left hand and having my FH put my wedding band on during the ceremony. It works better for me that way because of how my wedding band fits my ring.

I feel like I am missing something when I don't wear my engagement ring now, so I can only assume that feeling will be greater come my wedding day next May. So I think I will do what PP's have said which is wear my engagement ring the whole day and swap it after the ceremony.

I don't think there's a specific rule. It's whatever you feel comfortable with that day. I will not be wearing my e-ring the whole morning of and my FH will place my e-ring and wedding band on together during the ceremony.

This is what I would’ve done except my right hand is much bigger than left, so my engagement ring doesn’t fit on my right hand. I just wore my engagement ring like usual on my left hand and planned to have my husband put the wedding band on top of it and I’d switch them later... but during the ceremony actually as our officiant was getting the rings from the best man I just quickly slipped off my engagement ring so he could put the wedding band on first, and then I just put the engagement ring back on top of it right after 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm wearing mine because it's part of a set, and the band butts up to it.

My band is a setting my engagement ring fits into, so I'll place them together prior to the ceremony and they'll go on my finger together during the exchange of rings.
