Engagement ring during wedding ceremony?

Katie, on August 18, 2020 at 11:04 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 23
So I've heard a few different ways of how your supposed to wear your engagement ring on the big day. I've only been to about 3 weddings and never thought to pay attention to what the bride does with her ring. I've heard that some people have their engagement ring on their right hand and then put the wedding band on the left during the ceremony, or I've also heard that you just put the wedding band on in front of the engagement ring. I know ultimately it's the brides choice what do to but I just was wondering what other brides plan to do or have seen done 😊

The wedding band should be closest to your heart, so you can either wear your engagement ring on your right hand and move it over post ceremony or you can wear it and reverse it afterwards. You could also have your FH place both rings simultaneously onto you left hand during the exchanging of the rings.

My wedding ring will be a wrap and both rings will be placed on my hand at the same time.

I've seen it done all ways,/

I'm going to take my engagement ring off and have my FH put both on at once Smiley smile

I'm going to have my band placed in front of my engagement ring and then I will just switch it after the ceremony is over, I don't want him to struggle with both rings or drop them from nerves which is a very strong possibility lol. Smiley ring

I was originally planning to wear my engagement ring on my right hand, and then move it after the ceremony, but I love Margaret's idea of having both rings placed on at the same time during the exchange of rings at the ceremony!

I am just using my engagement ring as my wedding band too but if I wasn't I would have just worn my engagement ring on my left hand and had my FH slide the band on.

I'm getting an enhancer instead of a wedding band so I'll be walking down the aisle barehanded. That's also an option and then you would just get the band slipped on your finger during the ceremony.

You can then either add your engagement ring after the ceremony or anytime after the wedding. It's commonplace to have your wedding band closest to you and then engagement ring on top.

I had planned on wearing my engagement ring on my right hand and then putting it on top of my engagement ring after the ceremony. But after reading this post I just tried to put my engagement ring on my right hand, and apparently my ring finger on my right hand is significantly bigger than the ring finger on my left hand- the ring won’t even fit over my knuckle! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Guess I will have to use one of the suggested alternatives LOL

I gave mine to my dad before we walked down the isle, almost forgot! So I didn’t wear it for the ceremony at all. He gave it back after we exited the church.

I wore my engagement ring on my left hand and had the wedding band placed in front of it. I didn't even think about switching them until the reception when the photographer asked for them for photos. It actually turned out alrright because even though it isn't the "proper" way to wear them, you could see the wedding band in the pictures rather than it hiding behind the engagement ring (in my case).

I didn't even think about this! I think for myself because I am having an enhancer I will probably wear my enhancer and then just have FH put on both of my rings LOL he's kind of clumsy though..... Now I am in thought LOL I hope that you figure out what would be easiest for you and make you feel more comfortable!!

I'm wearing my engagement ring on my right hand for the ceremony, so that he can place my bands on my left ring finger. After the ceremony I will then add my engagement ring on top of my bands for pictures, and forever.

Yep. My right hand is at least 1 full size bigger than my left, so I can never swap any rings that I wear. My understanding is everyone’s dominant hand is always at least a little bigger.
I think I’m going to have my bridesmaid hold it. I figure my matron of honor will have enough with both bouquets! We’ll see!
