Engagement pictures HELP!

mrs.ford, on March 3, 2016 at 12:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

We have our actual engagement pictures this sunday! I am so super excited, BUUUUT.

I am currently peeling from a small sunburn on my shoulder (one shoulder, weird)...I got a freakin cold sore yesterday (GROSS) and I am doing all I possibly can to make that go away before then. I don't want to reschedule cause she was crazy booked to begin with..But I'm sure she can maybe edit that??? Idk how she would but she's a pro so I'm hoping she can. Any opinions??

You'll be fine. Maybe use a gentle exfoliant for your shoulder to take care of anything there. Get a good concealer for your lip and you'll be fine.

She should be able to edit, but can you aloe up? Makeup/coverup the cold sore?

Ask her to work some photoshop magic on that coldsore! Yes, you can use makeup, but they are hard to hide! Sorry girl! Try to take some deep breaths and get some good rest. Those babies can be stress-induced!

Ok, I am hoping she can. I didn't know if I could put makeup over the cold sore...But I have a friend doing my makeup so hopefully she can work some magic!

Very easy to photoshop if you have a good photographer

Well whatever make-up you use, make sure you don't touch it directly to the cold sore. Use a clean q-tip for each application. Be careful about lipsticks too. You don't want to contaminate your make-up! Or your friends. Definitely give her a heads up before she arrives.

Have you already hired your MUA? Can you schedule a makeup trial on that same day? Maybe professional makeup will help you hide it. If you can't, then check out any hairdressing academies in your city and make an appointment for that day. It'll be less expensive than a regular MUA, and they might help. Or, you could go to a Sephora or Mac and get them to do your makeup if you buy some products.

Regarding the shoulder, you need to moisturize a LOT. If you have aloe lotion, even better. Moisturize it several times during the day from now until Sunday and then it should be fine by then, or at least not noticeable in the pictures.

ETA: Nevermind about the makeup, just saw that your friend will do your makeup Smiley smile you'll be fine then!

For the cold sore- drink lots of water (I find I get them when I'm stressed and/or dehydrated). Try some zinc oxide ointment to help dry it up in addition to a cold sore treatment (I personally like campho-phenique. It's a lot cheaper and in my experience works better than abreva). Your photographer should be able to edit your images, but I know you just don't feel like your beautiful self when you've got one of those on your face, so if you think you need to reschedule, maybe talk to your photographer and figure out the logistics

@Kristy, Let me tell u about my stress. Haha yesterday was my first day back at work since my vacation...I went home for lunch and before I had left I felt a small bump on my lip, I thought maybe I had bit it or something. I am leaving my house back to work and I freakin thought my garage was all the way up when it wasn't and I hit it. I had to call my boss and tell her I couldn't come back (garage door was stuck, so car was stuck) I called FH crying cause I was so mad. I called garage company and I had to be put on an after hours list...The service call was just 189.00 and that DIDNT include parts. So I was estimating 400 dollars outta pocket. Not my idea of great since we are paying for a wedding and we just got back from vacation. THANK GOD for neighbors. One happened to know a guy who has a garage business on the side and fixed it for 50 bucks. After all that mess my cold sore was HUGE. maybe that's why haha

    sorry for the HUGE story.

Oh one more thing Kristy, I saw on another thread you live in Texas?? Which part?

@Futuremrsreno, yeah I feel ugly haha. I feel like every time I speak to my co worker that's all they see

ETA; I am literally chugging all the water I can. I feel that's a huge mistake on my part too....I will be honest and say in Mexico I drank everything but water and when we got back to Texas all I wanted was sweet tea. So currently just drinking water haha

I hear you, @FF. I've been getting them for years, and I absolutely know what you're feeling. I meant to tell you also that I was in your same boat and got one 4 days before our pics, but I did what I told you and it was totally cleared up by the time we did our shoot. But, I know when I've got one coming on so I start treating right away. Hopefully it will work for you too, but just use your judgment and do whatever you will feel comfortable with

My mom swears by L-Lysine for cold sores and fever blisters. It's an amino acid and helps your body heal from the inside. It's in the vitamin aisle.

    Moma's instructions:

Take 2 with each meal and a big glass of water.

You should definitely confirm that with the pharmacist lol

Omg THEY ARE THE FING WOOOORSE!!!!! I got one a freaking month ago and it made my lip crack I'm STILL waiting for the crack to close up. Im sure that's not what you wanna hear but me personally would try to reschedule if I could IF she is not able to photoshop it...but I feel like they take over my face... Ugh! I'm so sorry you got one they suck so bad. I also heard that lysine works great my friend swears by it he takes 2000mg daily and he hadn't got one in two years. I'll definitely be taking anything possible b4 the wedding that's one of my fears getting one b4 the wedding. Good luck, I hope you get it under control
