Engagement photos

I would say, first and foremost, if something is time-dependent (you really love fall foliage and want it in your pics, or it’s a destination wedding so save the dates need to be sent out early) then you should factor that in.

For instance, I got engaged in July but am not getting pictures done until November just because of the look I want for our save the dates (we’re using our engagement pics for our save the dates).

A lot of photographers are already booked for weddings for 2021 so if photography is important to you then I recommend to start looking now!

As Megan advised, when you choose to take your engagement pictures is dependent on lots of things. These can include where you want to take them, if you want to use them for your save-the-dates, if you’re looking to get a wedding photography package which includes engagement photos, etc.

It’s different for each couple. Some couples may take them right away, some may wait until a week or two before the wedding. There is no rule

Congrats! I'm getting them ASAP since it just happened and also to hold us over until the real deal.

It all depends on you and when you want to take the photos! you don't have to send out save the dates until 6-8 months before the wedding (if you do save the dates) so it's really up to you when you want to have your engagement photos taken. I would say decide what time of year you want them and book the session based on that . I don't think it's too early to have them taken soon if that's what you want!
