Engagement Photos on Sunday & its supposed to rain....HELP!

Almost-Mrs.Saraza, on June 3, 2016 at 8:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

So FH and I are having our engagement pictures this Sunday...yes our wedding is in 2 months but we received a free engagement package from our photographer and we would like to have other pictures besides selfies!

The issue I am having is that it is supposed to rain all day on Sunday and we are having our pictures at Lake Minnewaska in the Hudson Valley in New York. For those of you that had your engagement pictures indoors, what type of place did you have it in? I need a backup plan just in case the rain becomes a downpour and we get washed out!

Any help would be wonderful!! Thank you in advance!

I just got ours done the other day. 1 month before the wedding. We wanted warmer weather. I had the risk of rain. Legit all day it went from 80% chance to 0%. Our back up plan was buying a clear bubble umbrella, which we did not have to use.

We did talk about doing it at a cool brewery at one point. But FH didn't want to do any inside so we didn't think of too many places. Ask your photographer if they have any suggestions about places inside.

Libraries, museums, and local colleges seem to be popular indoor choices right now. A good indoor spot has a lot of natural light (think big windows). However, if we aren't expecting a downpour, I grab a couple clear umbrellas and tell the couple to relax and have fun with it! Grab a pair of cute boots, bring some extra make-up for touch-ups, and an umbrella if you have one. There are some beautiful rain pictures out there!

You must live near me!we considered minnewaska for ours too! So beautiful! We ended up using bear mtn state park because there were some indoor areas we could use in case of rain. Ended up with some great shot by the carousel and archways of another building. Then it wasn't raining so we went up to the lookout by West Point and took some overlooking the river.

We're getting ours done outdoors on Sunday too in Toronto. We've been checking the forecast all week. Although we did come up with indoor locations as a backup, we've decided to go ahead with the original plan and going to buy the umbrella in the attached picture.

To answer your question for indoor locations, how about Vanderbilt Mansion or Mohonk Mountain House? Found them at

    http://blog.platinumpartyevents.com/hudson-valley-weddings-5-of-the-best-locations-for-engagement-photos-in-the-hudson-valley/

There's also Boscobel House and Gardens or Peekskill. According to

http://www.borrowedandblue.com/hudson-valley/articles/hudson-valley-engagement-photo-ideas-with-kerri-lynne-photography it's a "fun, artistic town with some cool old buildings, right by the train station."

    Hope these help. Good luck!

I love the outdoors rainy photos.

About other places; ask your photographer, they should know great indoor places to shoot at!

Thank you for your ideas ladies! We are definitely doing it outside in the rain. I bought super cute rain boots and I believe I have a large umbrella to match. My photographer is super excited and thinks that taking pictures near the waterfall that's there will give the rain pictures an extra spark. Now to find a shirt to match the boots and I'm good to go for Sunday!

Umbrella pics are super cute! But a good backup is a library.. especially one with big windows and maybe a lot of steps.
