Engagement photos and double chins

Michelle, on October 29, 2019 at 7:43 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 49

Anyone else have this issue? My photographers' photos I've seen on Instagram and from his most recent works of weddings looked amazing. I had my engagement shoot Sunday and I was worried because I know I don't know my best angles to pose. Anyways, he did a very quick turnaround on the photos and they were great shots BUT I can't help but feel like I ruined it. There were a lot where my chin just looked weird and I had a double chin going on in a lot! I know I gained some weight but dang, didn't know it'd do a number to my jaw line lol, all my weight goes to my cheeks!. So I asked him permission for me to photoshop it since I didn't want to wait longer lol. He allowed me to "fix" them. I didn't change my face shape or anything, I just made it look like how it would've if I had just extended my jaw and not have any photos of having me look down. I also had bra back fat roles in my red dress that I smoothed out. Just wondering if anyone else felt this way? Anyway, here are some photos to share that I fixed. Before, it looked like I had a bit of a turkey neck going on... now I'm WORRIED about the wedding. Maybe there's some chin exercises I can do.

I think your pictures are beautiful and I can’t imagine you had a double chin.

I have the same issue. Some light exercising should do the trick! Good luck!

These are great! Just remember that we are the most critical of ourselves. Some of my engagement pictures where I thought I looked funny or maybe not the best angle, were other peoples favorites.

You look beautiful! I agree with Emma, I think we are our own worse critics. There were some pictures that our photographer took that I was like that is not a good angle and I think I have a double chin. My FH felt the same way about some of them too.

I thought I was the only one genuinely so stressed about my double chin Smiley xd I also photo-shopped my chin a bit in my first round of engagement pics, I was so self conscious about it (and still am) but lost about 7lbs for my second round of pics and the problem was solved for the most part. I think i was also just bloated too so about a week before pictures i didn't eat any dairy and stayed away from salt.

But honestly you're so beautiful and these pictures turned out awesome!

I thought I was the only one who hated how I looked lol, I’m like eww!! Here was the before photoshopped photo of one of them. My face was leaning down and to the side pushing my neck fat up 😂

Thanks all for the compliments. Shouldn't the photographer be looking for these kind of things though?? Maybe it's as someone mentioned before, we are our own worst critic so they didn't think it was that big a deal.

These pictures are beautiful! 😍😍😍 I think you're being wayyyyy to hard on yourself; I honestly think you look amazing! But I get it, we all have that feeling about ourselves and I will probably feel the same way when we do ours but I still think you look amazing!

When I saw the pics, I was confused and felt bad hearing how hard you are on yourself. The Pre-photoshopped pics are beautiful and they’re You!

I personally don't notice it at all, so I think you are probably just being hard on yourself!

That's because I photoshopped it out lol!

The pre-photoshop is what it was before. Thank you though.

Your photos are so beautiful! I agree with PPs that I would have never guessed you were insecure about your chin. You look gorgeous!

Those were the photoshopped ones where I fixed the chin hahaha but thanks. The one at the bottom with us two outside the original post is the example of pre-photoshop!

I do feel better looking at them the more I see it. I just have to practice what is flattering angles though. I'm glad to hear that it is a common feeling!

If you hadn't said anything, I honestly wouldn't have noticed anything out of the ordinary about this photo. I certainly wouldn't have noticed your "double chin", which I still can't see!! That's not a double chin girl!!!!

I have a double chin, because I'm fat!! Don't worry, I'm not complaining. I love myself, and am not trying to change a thing. But please!! Let's not have all the skinny girls on here complaining about non-existent fat and wrinkles and double chins!!

I will say that in this ONE photo, the angle of your head is such that maybe, MAYBE, if you look through a magnifying glass, you might be able to see what appears to be a slight bit of your neck showing. But that's it. Like I said, if you hadn't said anything, I wouldn't have noticed anything. You are a beautiful woman, and NOT fat at all, not even in your chin/neck area!! You're a healthy human specimen! Celebrate that!! Celebrate that you aren't a stick who looks like she needs a sandwich.

Congratulations on your photos! Really nice.

Alright, I'll show the unedited ones where it just looks unflattering. You can be skinny and have a double chin, you can be big and not have one lol.

I appreciate the compliments, but I guess the main point of the post is to really see if anyone else has the issue/if common, what are your tricks and to just share my photos haha.
