Engagement Photo Advice

Arielle, on September 23, 2019 at 8:51 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 2

So my FH and I have our engagement photos being taken at the beginning of November. We live in NJ and the foliage starts to come in beautifully and figured that was the best time to do it because we just love fall and everything that comes with it (football, flannels, all that good stuff).

Now I don't really mind having my picture taken, but I feel like I am gonna look super awkward. I am trying to think of ways to practice my smile so that I don't look unnatural or odd. How did you guys go about preparing if you have this same issue?

Also, I would love to see outfit ideas for fall engagement pics. Is it normal to change your outfit? We are also doing funny football pictures (he's a Giants fan and I am a Cowboys fan and they're rivals).

Honestly our photographer was great ! They do this all the time. Me and my fiancé are not great picture takers as we dont even take selfies. The photographer made us feel so comfortable and the pictures came out beautiful. We laughed a couple of times but it made me sooooooo much more comfortable and trusting with the photographer we chose. I was super impressed

Hey Arielle! Your engagement shoot sounds like it will be beautiful! Have you decided on the exact location you will have it?

Have you had many conversations with your photographer yet? It’s important that you feel comfortable and at ease with them so that you can truly relax. It could be a good idea to have a meeting with them to discuss your shoot so that you can get chatting and establish a relationship with them.

Feel free to explain to them that you are worried about looking awkward or stiff in your photos. They will be used to clients feeling like this and if they know how you feel, they will make an extra effort to relax you. You can also ask would it be a problem for you and your FH to talk throughout our shoot. This way you may be able to forget the added pressure of the camera and feel a bit more like yourselves. You will also get some amazing candid photos of you both smiling, talking and laughing with each other.
