We skipped it mainly because my FH proposed to me at my surprise bday dinner last year. My close friends and family were there and we even had a photographer .
I'm skipping most of the wedding-y stuff. It's just not us. We don't want an engagement party, no bachelor/bachelorette party, no shower, no rehearsal, etc. we are only having a ceremony and a reception. That's it.
We aren't having one. Most of our extended family and all my BM are out of town. No one offered to throw one (I kind of expected my FMIL to want to) and I think they're kind of a waste of money
We had one as our wedding was 2 years away at that point. It was a bit extravagant for what I would have planned (100 people, open bar, food) but it was great to have an excuse to get all the family and friends together to meet and was fun. It was a no gifts event but most did bring gifts so I have declined the offer of bridal showers and elaborate hens as it gets way too much
We skipped too. You tell people you're engaged so I don't see the point of a party for it. Unless someone host one for you there's no reason to create another event for people to spend money on you (cause they will).
