Hi!
I have read a few articles about the proper etiquette for engagement party invitees. They highly recommend only inviting people that will also receive a wedding invitation. We have a bit of a different situation. Is this an exception for this etiquette rule?
My family is in Virginia, his family is in Australia. We have decided to get married in Australia so a lot of my family and friends are unable to make it to the wedding in Australia plus we can only have 100 guests. My mom would like to have some sort of celebration for the older family members, like my grandmother and other local people that are unable to attend the wedding. We landed on doing an engagement party so everyone feels like included and are able to celebrate in some way.
Is it inappropriate if extend engagement party invites to people that will not receive a wedding invitation considering our situation?
