Empty tables

We're having a buffet so I don't think we should have place settings on the tables. What should go we're the plates would usually go? Or do we have the tables set anyway

I'll be having a buffet as well. And instead of having all the spots at the table empty, I'll just have the wedding favors set out for everyone. ☺️

I didn't think about that. I guess because I said I wasn't doing favors. Now I will have to look into it lol

Some people put the napkin where the plate would go. You could also add a flower, greenery or something decorative on the napkin.

Since everyone answered the first question, I'll answer the second question (even though it's pretty obvious xD) Don't do plate settings. It'll confuse your guests when they have to get up and get their dinner and you'll most likely have some guests awkwardly in line with a plate Smiley tongue

We are doing a buffet too. We are putting an organza bag in each spot so guests know to take come candy ( which will be in used in the table displays). We are using those are favors and decorations. The venue is having plates up at the buffet so people may get confused or there may not be extra for both place settings and by buffet.

I am going to have their plates, silverware, and cups at the table so they can grab it and go to the buffet. I will have extras in case of multiple trips but this way the tables aren't empty. I'm also thinking about gold plastic charger plates to take up the space as well.

There are lots of inspiration pics online showing how to do place settings without the plate. As pp's have said, you can use a charger plate, the napkin , a menu, or a favor.
