Emergency Surgery 2 months before the wedding! Vent

VegasBride, on July 16, 2009 at 11:02 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18

Omg so I just want to say I have an amazing FH. Monday night/Tuesday morning he rushed me to the emergency room since I was having severe chest and back pains and was unable to breath. The only time he left my side the entire time I was in the hospital was when my dad was around. I ended up having my gall bladder removed yesterday. What really sucks is I was supposed to have my gown fitting done on Saturday. Everyone keeps telling me that I will still be able to go to it but I don't think I will be able to get into a corset by then. One really great thing that came out of this whole situation was my mom now realizes how amazing my FH is since he slept in a chair for almost 3 days by my side. The few times he left my side my mom was raving about him and told me that she can tell we will have a VERY long and happy marriage.

Oh I am so sorry for you having to have surgery but how very sweet of your FH! He gets all 10's. It is really nice to have a man that you know will be there for you no matter what!

So sorry to hear about the surgery but glad to hear you are doing ok... your fh is a wonderful man. mine would stay til bed time then go home and sleep in his bed( its hard for him to sleep anywhere he is 6'2" so even our queen sucks for him)

I hope you feel better soon! Give yourself time to recover and take a break from wedding stuff. I would suggest you reschedule your fitting, you've got time to get it done before the wedding still, and even if your surgery was laparscopic and you're feeling ok overall, you are still healing inside so you don't want to be squishing everything around with a corset.

This might sound strange, but I was going to say "Yay that it happened NOW instead of CLOSER to your wedding!" We had a bride that had her gallbladder removed 3 weeks before her wedding, and she was severely sick for 2 months before that. It made planning her wedding very difficult! I felt SO bad for her! She was bright, shining, and pretty much healed by the time her wedding came around.

Here's to a quick and easy healing!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am already starting to feel a bit better but obviously still not great. The seamstress was called and canceled and my FH snuck out of the house this morning to fill the fridge with foods that I can eat. He is currently sleeping on the couch since he is unable to sleep in the bed while it is reclined. Every 4 hours he wakes up and reminds me to take my medicines. He truly is amazing. I don't think I would have made it through all of this if it wasn't for him. As for the surgery while it does suck I just keep thinking this could have happened when we were in Italy and then I would have been really screwed.

Well today I had an appointment with financial and my post op surgeon and the news is not great. My hospital bill not including the surgery is $31K. I will get the bill for the surgery itself on Monday. When we talked to them about getting approved for government financial aid they said we will most likely be denied because even though we aren't married and don't technically live together I went ahead and added him to the checking account so we could cash wedding checks. Well according to financial doesn't matter if we are or not that makes us MARRIED! ACK!! So now I am gonna try and explain to county the reason for adding him to my bank account and see if they will approve my claim.

I just keeping saying to myself, "Thank goodness the wedding is already paid for!" Otherwise I would be melting down at this news.

B/c of a common law marriage? how long have you been sharing the bank account? Most states have a minimum of 6 months to a year before you are considered common law married...

We have been sharing the bank account for 4 months. Its not a common law marriage but they are going to treat us as married because we have shared assets.
